The dismissal from service notification issued by K-P Elementary and Secondary Education Department mentioned Afridi was posted as Swabi DEO (female) and was involved in misappropriation of parent-teachers council fund.
It stated the officer concerned clearly violated office decorum, norms, rules and regulation and had disobeyed minister for education in front of the public by using harsh and abusive language.
The document stated embezzlement and disobedience were acts of outright corruption and misconduct under K-P Efficiency and Discipline Rules, 2011.
The notification also stated the department had published absent notice against the accused officer in local newspapers and she was also asked to appear before the director of Elementary and Secondary Education Department within 15 days to justify her absence, however Afridi failed to do so.

The notification also said the competent authority after having considered charges, evidence on record and reports of various enquiry officials, decided to dismiss Azra Afridi from service.
The backdrop
At Imran’s press conference on September 3, Afridi alleged that she was forcefully transferred from her post after she started work in the then non-functional schools in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. She had said she was there to inform PTI chief about her complaints.
