What's new

Suppose 2030 China will reach the same level with US, Now What? Can China imagine new Technology?

Can China dream of unknown, impossible Technology like US had done for humanity for the last 100 years?

Somebody will invent something, and somebody else will improve on it and make it better.
This hogwash about "innovative spirit" is fake, innovation actually comes from a foundation, nobody wakes up one day has an "original idea".

And honestly, the only thing left for human civilization is deep sea and/or deep space colonization.

We Chinese hope that when the winner of the competition between the two countries is determined. Americans are willing to work with the Chinese people to maintain the order of the world, and sincerely cooperate in the field of aviation and aerospace, so as to shoulder our due responsibilities for the future of human civilization.

Human civilization is still bound by gravity, and we are still just a group of two legged insects imprisoned on the blue planet. We should cooperate, not hurt each other.

A huge pressing need is cost effective, distributed energy storage technology to go with intermittent renewable energy sources. Will some inventor or group in China bring this to humanity?

It will be solved by improvement on solid state battery, that's being worked on right now.

The battery will be fast-rechargeable while being relatively thin.

As far as I know, the investment focus of the Chinese govt should be controllable nuclear fusion technology, space solar power generation technology, microwave power transmission technology, artificial intelligence, AR & VR, brain computer interface, energy-saving agriculture, solar glass, degradable materials, micro robots and so on.

A lot of great inventions normally thought of as Western have the root from China. Even the theory of evolution were pioneered by a Chinese scientist (Shen Quo) in Northern Song dynasty, around 800 years ahead of Darwin (and he had no opportunity to travel around the world like Darwin, just inside China).

Theory of evolution is a discovery not an invention.

So what are some of these great inventions normally thought of as Western but have their 'root' in China?

BYD Li iron phosphate battery may be a potential solution, not requiring expensive cobalt and being much more accessible. CNSA is also studying a space solar generating station and large scale orbital construction. Finally there's also 4th gen and modular reactors that can provide base load necessary as the backbone for a renewable energy based network since storage will never be able to keep up with, and there's no need to keep up with, baseload demand.

I dont think nuclear fusion will ever be practical next 200 years.

Microwave power transmission -- forget it for high power throughput transmission line...My job is RF microwave engineer -- and I support cable guided HVDC.

The low hanging fruits are

1. fast breeder reactors
2. genetic engineering ( make human life expectancy above 120 -- it should be doable)
3. biotech

We have made breakthroughs in nuclear fusion technology, such as the artificial sun.

However, we unexpectedly found a cheap hydrogen energy production method in this project. Therefore, before lithium battery electric vehicles completely defeat hydrogen energy vehicles, we will not industrialize and popularize this technology.

Pretty long list knock yourself out. Periods of great wealth creates periods with great thinkers. Similar periods of enlightenment in the Islamic world as well when they were wealthy. No one leads forever and no one is down forever. Arrogance is the mother of failure.

You must be a non stemi. Controlled fusion power is sustainable within seconds only and consume more energy than they produced.

The system cost 10n billions or 100n billions.

That sounds like alot but in the grand scheme of today's world it's more like a drop in the bucket.

For instance just the clothes you are now wearing. If it is synthetic it is likely a Western invention. So is the zipper and the snap buttons..the list is ridiculously long. It may take you a year to utter them all. Just think of all the man-made things you see when you walk around outside and in buildings.

Yes, arrogance is the greatest original sin of mankind, the Chinese are no exception.

Looking back at our 5000 years of history, we have always become stronger under the pressure of strong enemies and crises, but we have always gone into decline and division in an environment of defeating enemies and security.

Weakness and ignorance are not obstacles to survival, but arrogance. ------Liu Cixin
