Suntech , Solar Technology company signs MOU with pakistan

BEIJING and WUXI, China, Oct. 15 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. (NYSE: STP), the world's largest crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturer, announced today that it has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Pakistan's Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB) to work towards the widespread use of solar energy technologies to meet the energy shortage in Pakistan.

The objective of the MOU is to facilitate cooperation between Suntech and the public sector and private companies in Pakistan to help implement solar programs including the AEDB's Rural Electrification Program; the development of Solar Power Pumping Systems with the AEDB and the World Bank; and Solar Power Telecom Projects in collaboration with Pakistani telecom companies.

"We are proud to collaborate with the Alternative Energy Development Board to bring the latest in crystalline silicon solar technology to Pakistan," said Dr. Zhengrong Shi, Suntech's Chairman and CEO. "This is a clear example of the promise of solar energy in meeting growing demands for electricity in the developing world in an environmentally friendly way. With rapid improvements in solar energy technology and operational efficiency, solar energy is establishing itself as a crucial, cost-competitive part of the global energy mix."

Hain making progress? This is an attempt to end a crisis! Do not mix meetings needs with progress. We are only trying to get this jini of load shedding back in bottle. After all we see 18 hours of load shedding and 6 hours of drop voltage in 24 hours time. Will somebody believe me I keep awake whole nights during the summer just to make sure my family and kids could sleep and I would turn on and turn off generator every other hour. Ask me how much "Progress" we are making! dam!

Oh well i can't remember any day in my life when there was no load shedding in Pakistan.

If you buy a solar pannel system from China , cost 1500 $
you could run 3 fans, and 3-7 light bulbs in home ...

You don't need your gov for that you have to act on your own ..

why do we always ask others to give us? why can't we come up with the solution? I know there're a lot of intelligent engineers/scientists in our country, but they need capital to start a project. Forget about government, they won't ever support it, but business tycoons & industrialists should invest some money in this regard. After all, we get so much free energy in this part of the world.
