Sultan Baybars - From Slave to Saviour of Islam

The Kings and Generals animated historical documentary series on medieval history continues with a biographic video on Baybars, who became the sultan of Egypt as the Mamluk sultan. In this biography we will talk about his modest beginnings as a slave, his rise within the Mamluks, his early military career, and how he became the sultan and fought both the Crusaders and the Mongols, becoming a savior of Islam in this period.
Its good to remember Muslim heroes and role models. But what about in our era and our generations?

The generation born in 1980s to mid 1990's need to build Pakistan and be well educated.

The old Muslim heroes rose to the surface thanks to multiple generations of people who did work before them. People are more aware of Salahuddin (rrh) than Zengi (rrh), for example. We won't see it today, but I'm sure the unsung sacrifices of activists and thinkers today will form the groundwork for a state and society that will give rise to the next crop of heroes.

In 2010, for example, no one could've imagined seeing Pakistanis openly question -- much less deride -- the Army leadership as they are today. Whatever one's views about either side of the Army-PTI conflict, the fact that the Pakistani public is growing a taste for accounting their leaders is a huge shift. It won't happen overnight, but this is the raw organic culture necessary to build resilient and credible governing institutions.

The people are changing, and we know what the Qur'an says about people who work to change themselves (i.e., God improves their condition). It'll take time, but it'll happen. The renaissance didn't happen overnight; it's the same for revival. @_NOBODY_ @SQ8

Correct, Sir. Allah only helps those who are willing to change themselves for the better.

Everyone played a role. The big shifts in civilization don't often occur overnight; rather, they're a result of decades or even centuries of incremental contributions by many generations.

Oh boy

He didn’t save Islam since the mongols didn’t wipe Islam out and the mongols in Central Asia and Russia and Iran they become Muslims themselves even when baybars didn’t liberate these lands.

Hi,

Islam was never under any threat----. It was the muslim that was under threat---.

Two different things---.

I used to be fascinated by The Mamluks and Baybars. Any resource I could find to read, I would read.

Truth is Saladin gets the praise he does not deserve. Saladdin Deserves the praise he is entitled to but not at the Cost of Pushing back the praise belonging to the Mamluks and Baybars .

Different epochs man,

Saladine was a muslim hero and he was a kurd. Give anyone the credit he deserves. Saladine was capable to unite muslim armies for this decisive victory.

No, no different things at all. A religion has followers.

Don t be naive, or worse, don t try to confuse people with philosophical issues.

Hi,

So innocent of you.

If you are a muslims you don't even know that it is Allah's promise to protect Islam---but The Lord never promised to protect the muslims.

That is why muslims were decimated by the mongols and out of the murderous mongols---Allah in His benevolence converted the mongols to become muslims---.

There is no place to hide for the muslims---.

Islam is eternal---if not one race then Allah will create another race to follow islam---.

Maybe you are right on this. There is a lot of things we don t know to be honest.

Even in the mongol ruled areas there wasn’t a genocide against Muslims.

Hi,

There hardly was any genocide after the conquest---. The mongols treated everyone equal as a citizen---.

The rule of law was the same for everyone---.

The brutality was during conquest---during war---.

Just to reiterate your point, check out this Hasan Sahih Hadith.

A: This Hadith was reported by Al-Tirmidhy who said: it is Hasan Sahih (good authentic Hadith). It was also reported by Al-Nasa'y and this is the wording of Al-Nasa’y. It was also reported by Muslim on the authority of Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him). The Hadith means that the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked three things of His Lord (Exalted be He) for his Ummah: The first: He asked his Lord not to destroy his Ummah (nation) with what He destroyed the past nations such as drowning, hurricanes, earthquakes, stones rained down from the sky and other forms of mighty punishments. The second: He asked his Lord not to allow an enemy from outside them to triumph over them and violate their community, land and authority. The third: He asked his Lord not to cover his Ummah with confusion in party strife; “Al-labs” is confusion and opinion divergence, “Shi‘a” is the plural of “Shi‘ah” which is a sect, party, group. The prophet (peace be upon him) informed that his Lord granted him the first two requests and did not grant him the third one for a wisdom that He (Blessed and Exalted be He) only knows.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.

Allah has promised Prophet that no external enemy will be able to wipe out his Ummah, neither a Plague or natural disaster... The only thing Allah did not give him was internal strife, so it further supports the idea that Islam or Muslims has nothing to worry from external threats but the biggest threat to Muslim as nation is from within i.e Sects, Khawarij and civil wars for Power/wealth/control.

Hi,

Sir---muslim has everything to worry about---.

The mongols converted to islam and became ummah---. Turks converted to islam---became ummah---.

One ummah got wiped out---and got replaced by another---Prophet Mohammad's pbuh name stayed strong.

Yes and that’s what I am saying that’s why it is a myth calling Baybars a savior of Islam.
