there is a rumour that airblue will go for 2 a320's and 2 a330's or a340's, shaheen already looking for a330-300 pilots and got it self a 767-200, future of pakistani aviation will be all about private competition

This could take an interesting turn if/when India takes up Sukhoi's offer to participate in Superjet program and production.

In a nutshell you want to say that India can own/participate in any of Russia's industry?
Sorry mate, but India is not invited. Have a look at page 1 to see which countries in Asia Russia has offered this aircraft to.

Does not seem like a bad plane :P

But given limited resources, especially in today's competitive airline industry, I'd rather go for proven platforms like Boeing-737NG family, Airbus A320 and Embraer's E-series.

Particularly the ones from Boeing :D

How come India comes into this?

This will be made in Russia. I don't know if Indihas some agreement for itself.
there was an offer fy russia.

Russian president offers India joint production of civilian aircraft

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev today offered joint development of civilian aircraft with India, saying the two nations could benefit in this from the accumulated experience in the development and production of combat jets.

"I discussed the idea of shifting our successful experience in the field of military aircraft to the civilian aviation, with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last year (during New Delhi visit)," Medvedev said.

The two leaders were addressing the CEO's of top Indian and Russian companies after their Kremlin summit today.

"Now we are moving towards implementing this idea, at least I hope so," Medvedev said.

India have jointly developed Sukhoi Su-30MKI combat jet and are involved in the developing Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft and Multi-role Transport Aircraft (MTA) for the military.

Earlier, Vice Premier Sergei Ivanov said Russia was offering joint production of new generation of civil aircraft including Sukhoi Superjet-100 regional jet and futuristic MS-21 medium haul aircraft.

Russia's Irkutsk-based (Siberia) Irkut Aircraft Corporation is the main producer of Sukhoi Su-30MKI combat jets, tailored to meet Indian Air Force's requirements in the coming decades. Now it is developing the MS-1 passenger aircraft of the 21st century.

It's CEO Alexei Fyodorov, who has been linked to all major projects for the development and licensed production combat jets with India, believes that India has the intellectual and industrial potential for co-developing and producing this wide-body futuristic aircraft.

Jakarta, Indonesia (CNN) -- Russia's newest civilian airliner disappeared Wednesday from radar screens during a demonstration flight in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, state-run RIA Novosti news service reported.

There were 44 passengers on board.

The pilots requested permission to descend from 10,000 feet to 6,000 feet, air traffic controllers said. After that, all radio contact was lost. The plane began making its descent but vanished from radar screens at 6,200 feet in a mountainous area. By the time the plane was due to return it should have burned up its fuel, RIA Novosti said.

The Sukhoi Superjet-100 airplane arrived in Jakarta as part of a demonstration tour of six Asian countries. It had been to Myanmar, Pakistan and Kazakhstan, and was due to visit Laos and Vietnam after Indonesia, RIA Novosti said. Sukhoi manufactures military aircraft and is known especially for its fighter jets. Its civilian aircraft is narrow-bodied with a dual-class cabin that can transport 100 passengers over regional routes.

BAD NEWS:

Pakistan May Buy 8 Sukhoi Superjet 100s

Pakistan’s Air Indus has shown an interest in buying eight Sukhoi Superjet 100 airplanes, the manufacturer said on Wednesday.
“The client is interested in purchasing eight new SSJ-100 planes, and get three of them in 2013,” Sukhoi Civil Aircraft’s Senior Vice President Igor Syrtsov said.
An SSJ-100 carried out two demonstration flights in the Indonesian capital.
United Aircraft Corporation said in February Russia will export 10 SSJ-100 airplanes in 2012. The planes will be delivered to Mexico, Indonesia, and Laos in the second half of the year.

So far, only one plane has been exported and that was to Armenia.
Another 10 SSJ 100s will be delivered to domestic airlines Aeroflot and Armavia.

The Superjet 100 is a medium-haul passenger aircraft developed by Sukhoi in cooperation with U.S. and European aviation corporations, including Boeing, Snecma, Thales, Messier Dowty, Liebherr Aerospace and Honeywell.
The aircraft is capable of carrying up to 100 passengers for up to 4,500 kilometers.
In early February SSJ 100 received the Type Certificate from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

Sukhoi has received over 200 firm orders for Superjet 100 airliners so far.
