I agree. Pakistani leaders themselves are reflection of its people. Until pakistani people themselves introspect then leaders wont change. They are scared of internal reactions is what I think. Many people in Pakistan have a positive view or connection to Afghanistan and would react negatively if they fully turn it into an enemy.

And also want to limit the chances of a 2 front war happening in the future.

So they are using other methods to solve the mess we are in.

There will never be a 2 front war. Pakistan is nuclear, one or both will be nuked if there was an attempt to open 2 fronts.

They don't want to admit its the Afghans because it will put decades of political engineering, diplomatic efforts down the toilet. They don't want to face the truth just like they didn't want to face the truth of TTP militancy in 2005. There wont be a 2 front war. The threat of nukes+ long conventional war leading to economic losses + china joining is more than enough to keep India at bay.

There are literally TTP bases in Paktia, Kunar and Khost. All out in the open. I am sure the army reconnaissance is aware of them. Taliban have done nothing. TTP to Taliban is like hezbollah is to Iran. They do smuggling, drug dealing, ransoms, assassinations, whatever brings in the money and that's why they are based on the border because most of their work is cross border.
