Don't take it personally but i am just making a hypothesis.
If someone comes to your town and makes a deal which is acceptable to townspeople and grants that someone the right to rule your town inspite of the state then what is the state supposed to do?
Clearly the town falls in Pakistan and anybody who tries to challenge the state authority just to grab power is someone who is a rebel and cannot be tolerated if the state is to survive (for the common good of all the people of the state and not just the town in question).
Just pointing out that sometimes a state needs to fight for its authority despite the risk of damage because choosing not to do so would lead to much more damage in the long run.
Regarding how to take Swatis in confidence, that is the need of the hour and should be addressed for clearly ANP has lost cojones and just wants to pin everything at the Army after claiming that its peace deal has solved the problems.
My suggestion may not be liked by many here but we need an interior minister as tough as Naseerullah Babar who is not cowed by militants and can use brute force when needed.
There are many tough Pakistanis out there who can do the job.
Crying about Pakistan crumbling in front of Militants does not inspire confidence and is one of the huge reasons that TTP has been able to flaunt their authority in our faces.
To achieve any goal one first must believe in their ability to achieve the goal.
Clearly the statements of our government sometimes let die hard Pakistanis like us down so what will happen to the people who are facing TTP as well?
Morale is not something to be taken lightly...after all even in Pakistani armed forces the morale factor has many a times played a key factor in both our victories and defeats.
