Storing softwares in Google drive: But the softwares aren't working after downloading for use.

DVDs wear out. So we have to copy the softwares time to time into new DVDs.

I thought the permanent way to store the softwares would be to upload them to Google drive.

I uploaded the softwares. When I downloaded them and tried to install on my desktop, it showed error message. I don't remember exactly but it was something to the effect 'The setup file is missing'. So I am unable to use the softwares.

Is there any solution to this? Is there a way around the problem? Does this happen in Dropbox also?

Your software must be having some kind of malicious code embedded in them hence the files (setup) is removed by Google's anti virus.

solution:
1- zip your files using a password and then upload to your Gdrive.

I use Degoo. You can download the Degoo app and get 100GB of free cloud storage.

I agree with one of the posters above. For software it is better to zip and then store it. I use 7zip.

Are you sure it will work? Once I had compressed the folder containing multiple softwares using Winrar and uploaded it to Google drive. I don't remember whether the softwares worked after downloading for use.

If you can extract the rar file, it is almost certain that your files were unchanged. Adding a password will ensure no one can change the zip file --actually no one will be able to extract it either.

BTW, you may also consider making ISOs of your DVD and zipping them before uploading. That way, you can get exact copy of your dvd by simply mounting it on something like Daemon Tools or similar.

Unless you software had a really tricky copy protection this should work.
