Statistics released by SBP tell that every Pakistani owes Rs 130,000

KARACHI: As per the latest figures released by the State Bank of Pakistan on Friday, every Pakistani is now indebted by Rs 130,000.

The debt situation of Pakistan continues to increase at an alarming rate as the latest figures and statistics released by the State Bank of Pakistan indicate.

Pakistan's total debt has increased to Rs 26,814 billion among which the country's foreign debt has had an additional increase of $88.89 billion.

From July to December 2017, the foreign debt of Pakistan has recorded an increase of $6 billion.

Pakistan's total debts have increased by 14.9 percent over the past one year, according to the documents.

They are talking about only poor peoples and middle class. Pakistan has truely a big fishes and they worth in crors and billions.
The few peoples i know who worth around one billion $ so guess how much amount other peoples has who do not want to show thier assets due to tax.

Honestly, I CAN and I WOULD pay back my part of the amount, IF there was a government in power that I trusted. Seriously, an account should be opened for our major creditors, the organizations/states whom we owe most, and ordinary Pakistanis should be allowed to transfer money directly in those accounts.

Rs 130000/- is NOTHING for most upper middle class families these days. An upper middle class family of four can easily pay this amount in 4-5 years. It amounts to approx. 11000/- per month. Many people spend this much on snacks and restaurants.

i agree but we have poverty aswell and why would someone pay for someones crime i remember the compaigne NS ran in 96 "Qarz utaro Mulk sanwaro" where did the money go.

Also the figures mentioned in the article must be based on previous census figures as the latest census process is yet to be completed. Depending on the increase the amount can come down significantly.

We need to create a blockchain based open ledger for servicing Pakistan's debt , that way no SOB can put his/her hand in the till.

Pakistanis will rush to contribute to finish off the debt if they know that it will not be siphoned off into offshore accounts.
