If you ask me i'd say India needs Bangladesh more than anything right now. In this subcontinent Bangladesh is the last remaining country India has good relations with; Sri Lanka, Nepal, Burma, and needless to say Pakistan all have bad relations with India right now and are pretty much China's dear friends in this region. Add Bangladesh to it and China has India completely surrounded. Before India would say to these countries "ultimately you have to stay in South Asia", now it seems the gun might be on India.

However, i personally think Bangladesh's economy and government has not matured enough to take such steps, it will take some time before this is fully realized.

Actually India needs no one in the subcontinent as such.

It should assist its neighbours and expect nothing from them.

That will be the best for her rather than feeling others should reciprocate.

Even if all the nations around tie up with China, it does not matter.

The US will not allow any 'poaching' in the Indian Ocean for its strategic necessities and now Russia is flexing its muscle to regain her lost superpower status. Once she has attained that, she will join the fray in the Indian Ocean.

Indian Ocean has the strategic chokepoints for Black Gold and without Black Gold no country's economy can survive.

India should sit back and watch the fun and games.
