State Terrorism in Arakan and the situation of Rohingya Refugees in Banglad

.
1.Nurul Islam, a lawyer by training., and Dr Mohammad Yunus, a physician, are the two leading leaders of the Rohingyas. Right now both of them along with 22 other Rohingya reps from all over the world are attending a convention on the Rohingyas at Jeddah. The convention is being hosted by OIC and EUROBURMA. The latter is sponsored by NED, Washington DC.

2. Some movement is taking place at last. The issue of the Rohingyas and the Arakanese is very tragic indeed.

Nothing will happen if it is in Jeddah.

All noise and no action!

See how moribund the OIC is!

Or the Arab League.

It is all an Islamic tea party and nothing more!

The western sponsors will only be cosmetic!

If any country that can have influence on Myanmar - it is China.

China is a close friend of Bangladesh and so why are they not helping out?

^^^^^^^^^Islamic Tea Party

But yeah, the only country that can play a strong part is China.

While China itself have problem with Chinese refugee from Myanmar, how could they help us. Thailand has their own Karen refugee problem. Seems like Burmese like to get on fight with anybody.

Without China, Myanmar is a big zero!

I dont think China can help rahter Rohiyngias themselves should try to get along with locals and make them understand that their loyality lies to that country. Thats the only solution, nothing else from outside will help.

I am being serious.

Tell me one thing positive the OIC has been able to force through?

All sold to the highest bidder!

. .
No.

They have managed to stay afloat for so long with international sanctions.

One has to give credit where it is due, even if we do not agree with them!

OIC is too big and too diverse. It is not a workable platform. But symbolism is rather important as well. Also OIC runs some good program in economic front and plays its role.

I whole heartedly agree that the Arabs are of no good, they have nt been able to do anything till date about any issue. If there is any muslim country with balls its Iran, for better or for worse.

Mate, you haven't seen the true face of the Burmese Junta. They are unthinkably oppressive! I have had many good Burmese friends back in high school and college. Not a single one supports the vile regime. Listening to the stories of oppression were like listening to horror stories.

The problem are not the Burmese people, they are very nice people. The problem are those arrogant and stubborn generals in charge of the country. They are quite dependable on China and to some extent, India. Without Chinese support, they are gone.

Oh, I have tremendous respect for that country. After all, I have a Persian heritage :D

Not a great fan of the regime though.

In geopolitics, one cannot legislate what type of Govt a foreign country has.

One has to work with them and not against them, if one wants to accrue advantages.

Bangladesh has to have excellent relations with the military junta if it wants to link up with China through Myanmar for better trade and doing so economically.

There are already 2 projects on the way with Myanmar, one being railway and another is the roadway, both are destined to reach China through Burma. I think China will use it's card wisely, it will only solve the Bangladesh-Myanmar issues only when they've got what they want, if you know what i mean.

.
I am sure Bangladesh will play by the ear and have their nose sniffing the wind!

As they say that it takes two to tango!

China requires Bangaldesh possibly more than Bangladesh requires China.

I say this because China's strategic interest in the Bay of Bengal is quite focussed, while Bangladesh can always find export markets and Chinese cheap products will still come in, since China requires every dollar if she is to sustain itself in her quest for world superpower status.
