Very good observation. The revolutionary did the revolutionary job, and passed the legacies to pragmatic successor - to do the pragmatic job.Its sad that our country has been held hostage by clique of desidom and been stagnant for the last 70 years I dont see anything improving fast it will be slow and stagnant this country should thank the Army and China being a good patron for us as for the Chinese members who might view Mao more negative without Mao China would not be strong world power but a tool for the American world order granted he was not a economic manager but a revolutionary which lead to pragmatic Deng to handle the economy. Its not just in China Lenin with USSR gave way to pragmatic yet dictatorial Stalin Che in Cuba to Fidal the pragmatic Khomeni the fiery cleric to moderate Khamanei
Don't make me wrong. China insist democracy - democratic centralism. What China against is the Utopia- one man one vote system.Hypothetically speaking, what will happen then? A new party? Would not be somewhat same as democracy? A guided/illiberal democracy perhaps.
What's the reason in particular?
China long term political evolution is by baby step, no radical changes. The society is changing, nothing is eternal.
Also, CCP is not western party at all. The party(党) in Chinese is not the party in western concept. This is huge difference. So there is no New Party by western term.
Yes, illiberal. Because too much liberal needs to be neutralized. We call it 中庸. The western advocated liberal is something very radical.
Taiwan is not democracy, it's Populism. US is now just copying what happened in the past 20 years in Taiwan. The radical changes in Taiwan is nothing but inner fighting. Divide the people by blue and green, polarized ideologies, Anti-intellectuals media and education system, irresponsible politicians, corrupted government, stagnate salary for young people, eroded infrastructure, and bankrupted social safety net.
