In many countries you can marry before the age of 18. And many of those countries do a lot better than Sri Lanka, China or India, economically.

I don't think all hindus would oppose my view. I think the problem is that as you're becoming liberalised, you're taking up more laws from the goray and attempting to be like them because you view them as the higher civilisation.

Chinese men resulting to depravity such as trafficking women from all across asia to China. Mass abortions. A gender ratio which is one sided.

Don't get me wrong but communists are literally no better than feminists. They are both wrecked up groups who noone should be taking social policy laws from.

There are greater things in life than economic development.

I understand we shud remain super conservative n shud not take up anything from whites(goray) but instead i shud run to gora land,,n live n work thr according to thr laws n preach my countrymen abt how gud it is to he conservative,,,,the real bhayya way of living.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is reported to have informed the diplomatic community in Sri Lanka yesterday that the Muslim Marriage and Divorce Act would be amended to increase the age of marriage to 18 for Muslim women in a move aimed at unifying the personal laws as far as possible.

He briefed the heads of diplomatic missions in Colombo on the security situation in the country after the serial bombings on April 21 and the steps taken for de-radicalization as a step towards sustainable peace in the country.

The PM said steps would be taken to reform the education sector and the legal system of the country.

As an initial step for implementing a common law cutting across different ethnic groups, he said the Muslim Marriage and Divorce Act would be amended to declare 18 as the marriageable age for Muslim women in line with other the laws applicable for other communities.

He said Madrasas or the Muslim religious schools would be brought under the purview of the Education Ministry.

According to sources close to the Prime Minister, there were requests from Muslim Woman organizations to increase the age of marriage to 18.

The military officers who were present at the meeting briefed the diplomatic community about the security situation.

They told the diplomats the entire terror network of the bomb attackers had been dismantled since all the key suspects had either been killed or arrested and that there were no intelligence report about any other terrorist attack.

The government requested the respective countries to modify their travel advisories in accordance with the improvement of the security situation in the country. There was positive response from the British High Commission to this request. (Kelum Bandara)

Next step should, mmmm, let me recommend: how many children should a Muslim family have.. If this is not enough, then next step should be, how many breath a Muslim should take per day.

This, as China's tradition, still exists after the founding of New China. It has been just few decades since China developed from an agricultural country to an industrial one. The tradition of female infanticide can not be changed in a moment.

With the improvement of human life span, child marriage has long been unsuitable for modern society. A hundred years ago, the average life expectancy of people around the world was only 30 years. Child marriage is necessary. But now things are quite different. It's long overdue that things should be done according to tradition.

I am merely repeating what he said. He claims that child marriage is a Muslim value. If it is "Islamophobic" when I said it then the same should be said to the person that is claiming that Muslims need to have sex with Children

Forgive me for not understanding your thinking. Child marriage has so many disadvantages, but you think it must exist.

It isn't anymore but the damage has been done from it already which you may have to deal with in future and some of which you're dealing with in the present.

At no point did I make any of my posts here and think I needed to control women or anything like that.

I believe that people from a young age have feelings (love, companionship, physical desire etc...) for the other sex and they should be allowed to act on those feelings in a way which is allowed by Islam. I believe unnecessarily sexually repressing people in a hypersexualised society leads to more harm than good.
