Sri Lanka Navy denies firing at Indian fishermen

Sri Lankan Navy today categorically denied reports that they had fired at Indian fishermen at waters near Tamil Nadu, killing one person.

"No such incident had been reported," Sri Lanka Navy spokesperson Captain Athula Senarth told reporters here.

Earlier, Indian media reported that at least one fisherman from Tamil Nadu was killed last night in an incident near Tamil Nadu waters.

The media reports said the Sri Lankan Navy allegedly opened fire at the fisherman killing one and injuring another.

Hi Sri Lanka, I appreciate your defense against any allegation. But killing could be true. I am not saying, I am sure but you too can't be sure. Someone must have killed the fisherman. There are bullets.

Sri Lanka Navy Headquarters in Colombo immediately contacted Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy Mr. Admiral Nirmal Kumar Verma.

(Currently Indian Navy Chief in Indonesia on an official visit)

After Mr. Admiral Nirmal Kumar Verma returns to India, we can see some balanced report.

I think there will be a join investigation.
