It makes sense with their descicion....How can India expect Sri Lanka to cooperate and friendly when Indian foreign policy is not friendlier to him???....If China can provide cheap products then i was really wondering why do you need any product from India or any other country...

True. SriLankans prefer Japanese(JDM?) used cars. there are many countries which are fine with this type of policy(importing used cars) including newzealand(AFAIK).

If Srilankan government does not want Indian goods imported/available in Lanka, Why not they ban automobiles from India completely?
I hope Lanka Ashok Leyland,Tata Motors also pulls from Lanka giving way to Scania,MAN,Volvo in HCV sector.

no.. you are wrong. Permit is only for used cars.. & it's not country specific either.

There are certain restrictions imposed on used car imports in Sri Lanka with a view to avoid undesirable imports in to the country causing bad impacts to public, Environment, Economy and Security of the country. The controller of Import and Export issues a permit to people who are eligible to import based on above criteria.

Later this year, I will post a new thread regarding the vehicle sales in 2012, and then you will see Japan overtakes India in market share for vehicle sales in Sri Lanka…..

Market share for Indian vehicles will be reduced to 40% or 35%...

Market share for Japanese cars will increase to 45% or 50%

Due to permits market share will change… you can see you self later….
