Spelling Bee: Indian-American kids dominate again; 25 of them in final 49

These Kids are making us proud. Make India so beautiful that all of them feel proud of having Indian roots !!!!

.
but but ....indians cant have dual national....So basically, they are Americans of indian descent then again everyone is of African descent :enjoy: ....Wonder why you are cheering?
Cheering? He is just reporting a news item.. when did that became cheering?

.
Actually it's that they left India because they were tired of it. There are many talented Indians but India doesn't have a system to take the best benefit of their population and it drains brainpower because nowadays, a lot of qualified people are leaving India to live in countries like Canada or USA. Immigrants communities of India are very successful. Like I said few times, instead of taking pride, you should think about creating a healthy environment for people like them to thrive in India instead of making them leave their country. If that happens, India's rise will be unstoppable.

India is on the rise regardless...
There is enough talent in India to go around...cultivating it is definitely something we need to prioritize, but I wouldnt say that the "loss" of these folks leaving India is hurting us in a major way...
Besides, Talent that leaves India has its own purpose as well...These folks become brand ambassadors for India, promote Indian agendas (political and economic) and create important cultural links that people tend to overlook...
I think healthy levels of immigration are not a bad thing..
I speak from personal experience here...

These "Indians" and their parents gave up their Indian nationality to be Americans. Keep showering them in praise as if they give two-shits about India.

Actually they do...
Indians(and for that matter Pakistanis as well)...settled in the US tend to be more Indian than Indians themselves at times...
Cultural, religious and family connections keep this bond alive...
Given that you're wearing hate tinted glasses, I understand where your statement is coming from..

but but ....indians cant have dual national....So basically, they are Americans of indian descent then again everyone is of African descent :enjoy: ....Wonder why you are cheering?

Don't think anywhere does it say that these kids are Indian nationals...
Says very clearly, INDIAN-AMERICAN even in the title...

So where's the ruse?

Reminds me of bobby jindals statement who said i am not indian i am an american. Someone needs to tell him bleach ur color too.
And that racist character americans have done on indians, Apu, hahahhahhahahha.
But indians feel proud that no, see in some form we are getting attention.

I fail to see why this news should hurt you so much...
It's just kids of Indian origin winning a spelling bee...you can't digest the achievement of some 8th graders?!!

Some Pakistani butt hurts so pissed that they can't hide their jealousy. Next time stop taking pride in British boxer Amir Khan and other people of Pakistani origin.

Btw now the trend is reversing. NRIs from all over the world are coming back to India.

Only one looking misrable here is u and ur indians shooting up in air over comments. These spelling bee competitions really dont mean much, even in usa,in case u dont know. Even american junior high schoolers dont pay much attention to them. Dont know why u indians always start bloating over everything.

Nor do these competitions mean aything to ur future career. They are just some organized contests, u cram the spellings, uwin or lose thats all.
If u really want to show concern then do for ur south indian fellas who move to usa with fake I.T. degrees and later get busted and sent back home.

Yes they do. American citizen who was born in India and doing his masters took funding from US government for a project in India. The project involved study ad treatment of curable blindness in India. Project helped hundreds of Indians get their eye sight back. This is just one example. Many will invest in India come here for tourism often bringing money and jobs for locals.

Your jealousy is very obvious. Your understanding or lack of it is even more. If it weren't that important, it would not find a slot on prime time TV. If it was all about cramming as you call it, why aren't Pakistanis doing it? Understanding the root of a word, that could come from a foreign language is the KEY. No, if you follow the Lahori intellect and cram, you would probably not even qualify. Who cares what you think but the not so intellectual still need lessons time to time.

Before going into full retard mode....Pakistan does recognize DUAL NATIONALITY so MANY do have their Pakistani passports....if they dont they can have different IDENTITY CARDS....But main issue is we do recognize dual nationality which india doesnt...So basically, not a national...you guys so proud of indian origins...Africans should be proud coz everyone is of African origin :enjoy:

Don't feel bad if Salim the plumber don't show up in Washington for Nawaz or when Abdul the waiter "say go nawaz go"

These Indians don't need a Pakistani certificate to prove how much they love India off course there are some exceptions like Bobby Jindal.

And most of the Indian states passed land tenancy acts even Indians find it hard to buy agricultural land let alone NRIs.
1st para was rubbish ...

No one is giving them any certificate...they aint holding your passport...yet you guys are begging to have your names squeezed in

as for the last para- so indian state also taking away your passports?

Cheering? He is just reporting a news item.. when did that became cheering?
He replied you didnt read not my prob

You offer dual nationality but how many does actually have it :). Proud countries like India, China, Japan, etc restrict dual citizenship. And Indians who left can still come back, coz they Indian origin :)

Proud father Mirle Shivashanka wore a T-shirt that captured a lot of attention. | Twitter

Vanya Shivashankar of Olathe might have become co-champion of the 88th Scripps National Spelling Bee on Thursday. But her proud dad won Twitter’s praise with the T-shirt he wore for the big occasion.

Mirle Shivashankar’s shirt declared him “The Beefather.”

What is the language of origin for "#beefather?" Can you use it in a sentence?@lhollers @ScrippsBee @mattborcas

That’s no empty boast for Mirle, a software engineer. Vanya, 13, became the first sibling of a past champion to win the bee. Her sister, Kavya, won in 2009.

Two for two. Not bad, dad.

Vanya shared the championship with 14-year-old Gokul Venkatachalam from Chesterfield, Mo., on her fifth and final attempt at the title.

Meanwhile, folks on Twitter want to know: Hey dad, where’d you get that T-shirt?
