The trend of onshoring has already begun on a small scale, esp. in U.K. It is inevitable since rising labor costs in low cost manufacturing hubs and ever increasing transportation costs have begun to offset the prev. cost benefits these companies enjoyed.

If they bring back on-shoring, they will not be able to keep their sales high up beyond a certain point compared to China, Korea and even now Vietnam and India slowly. Philippines and Vietnam are becoming massive favourites for manufacturers in Japan and Korea.

Also, they need to quit the whole bloated welfare system which is screwing them up badly.

We need to work on quality. Our quality except in certain esteemed organizations like ISRO and elite strategic areas, is pathetic. Sorry to say, but we are way behind what China was even in 2002. Our private sector manufactures nothing of substance; we are only starting to make steel locally rather than importing from Japan.

Japan setting up shop here in India is already happening. Wait and watch how India changes.
