Soviet MiG-23s and Pakistani F-16s: Encounter in Afghanistan

.
As the article says itself, they were not equipped with any missiles, hence they weren't ready for a dogfight.
Surely they would have tried to run away but a kills of our pilots made the efforts to reach them.

I am not sure, but surely they must have a radar system, or not, then a obvious ground control.

. .
Luckily yes.
But hey, something is fishy here.

They told on arrival, shocking the base, that they countered Pakistani F-16s, and one got destroyed, and if there was a mutual contact onn radio, would it be passed?

So no radio contact ??

Yep. They had no radars,no
Ground support. But they were able to communicate eac
h other! Also without radar
How did they undertook the
Mission?

.
Still, they did it quite well i guess. Overall, if they had no radars and no radio contact with ground, they would have been blown off.

.
either, the article misses something. Or its a fabricated one. I haven't seen this f16 lose in any sites before

Kamra is near attack- not miranshah(FATA).... Its said tht it was accidently shot...... n lol @ russian pilots... just see the PAF kills against them.

Shooting down ground attack and transport aircraft takes amazing skill. And a good portion of the transport and ground atack aircraft were piloted by Afghani pilots....

I hope you recognize this tail.

su25tail.jpg

It's from an SU-25, which is a ground attack aircraft not a fighter.
