South China Sea: CCTV reporter debates with American expert on the arbitration case

Published on 22 Jul 2016

Wang Guan, chief political correspondent at CCTV America, was invited to debate with Daniel Wagner, CEO of Country Risk Solutions, on the South China Sea arbitration ruling in RT’s program, Cross Talk, on Wednesday. Wang insisted that The Hague-based tribunal court “ruled on something that it has no jurisdiction to rule on based on a geopolitic side lawsuit filed by the Philippines against China.” He added that “the court ruled (on our) sovereignty in disguise of ruling on other things, which violated the spirit, if not the text, of UNCLOS.” Take a look at this heated debate.

IMHO, the CCTV reporter won hands down!

The so-called American expert doesn't know too much about the SCS situation. He keeps harping on the standard western narrative. He has no in depth understanding of UNCLOS.

I felt sorry for this un-informed US spokeswoman. She is struggling.......

It's very noticeable she's looking for words and unfortunately there was no one to help her.

Matt Lee from AP always challenges the State Department propagandists.

This is up to Chinese people to defend and explain their Sovereignity to foreigners. Just like on this forum.
Well educated and fluent English speakers must come forward and counter this anti China prapoganda.

BeiJing and Chinese english media is far more timid and too civilised. We need a world class communication and PR strategy to get our message and truth accross.

Another video from CCTV's Wang Guan........

Explaining the South China Sea

Thousands of years ago, the islands in South China Sea were uninhabited. By legal definition, they were terra nullius—No Man’s Land. Chinese mariners discovered the islands in South China Sea thousands of years ago, and mapped them.
The dispute over the South China Sea islands has heightened recently. CCTV's Wang Guan explains some of the issues.

Questioning a lady with no clue at all about SCS and posting it in youtube that look like they grilled the lady , very clever from commie television for propaganda proposes.

After China invaded the 200 miles EEZ of the Philippines , China already broke the law of UNCLOS which China signed .

Very professional and incisive questions asked by the AP Journalist Mr Mathew Lee
Trudeau just couldn't handle them and mumbled along. It was disastrous for US DoS press office.

I agree.
Wang Guan was very well prepared and knowledgeable. He has beaten Danial Wagner's accusations soundly, quoting ample examples and referencing to articles in the Law. Brilliant!
The Host of the Show couldnt help but nodding in agreement to Wang's deliberations throughout. It appears the Host was in great appreciation of Wang's talent.

Matt Lee from AP always challenges the State Department propagandists.

He is an outstanding challenger against American injustice and a constant menace to the State Department's integrity and professionalism

There is another journalist, Miss Wang Binru, the Washington Correspondent of Phoenix TV who has been doing fantastic jobs giving plenty of hard times to US State Dept's press officers

This Daniel just prove America's IQ.

It might not have shown any indication of the level of intelligence of the us officers, I would rather say the Americans are absolutely luke-warm towards what is going on in the region because deep in their guts, it is none of their core business. Their man objectives are to create conflicts among the nations; reaping profits through arm sales and establishing new military bases thereby and to further neutralise our uprising power as a result. Lastly to gain photo-ops that the world's policemen are still in control. Meanwhile the US lawyers and corrupt judges are laughing at the gross incompetence of the poor Filippinos who should be pretty annoyed by the incoming phone calls for the payment of legal bills on time.

I am not allowed to post a link on the SCS tribunal dispute yet but any one interested may be kind enough to post the full text here after locating this title: "China has ample evidence to reject "ruling" on South China Sea Dispute: Tung Chee-hwa" of this news article on July 16.

Thanks
