Somnath temple to restrict entry of non-Hindus

Well good for you, but do remember Saudis restricted access of non Muslim to cities and you are talking about adopting same procedures for a Temple. Anyhow why would I care, I would enter Temple here in Pakistan if I wanted to after seeking permission and if granted, just for the sake of experience in the most respectful way possible for me being a Muslim.

I applaud your sentiments but just to point out restrictions on entry of non Muslims to Makkah (not Medina) are for religious reasons therefore the bigotry implied in the OP applies to it too..

same for the specific temple, they will allow non hindus with permission. Some other temple do not allow non hindu at all(no permission ever). Most temples dont bother, anybody can enter.

I have no objection if a Hindu does not want me to enter their temples. Its their temple, their laws.

Just one request please...Do not forcibly stop low caste hindus from entering temples. God is for everyone.

My request for Muslim friends.... Just double check with your Imams whether non muslims are allowed to enter Masjids?

God maybe for everyone, Temple is not for everyone. Temple is for those who practice Agama and follow the rules of Agama.

Its foolish to offer advice without knowing the nuances of the matter. The path to hell is paved with good Intentions.

in his other capacity as the imam of all muslims, muammar gaddafi once said that any human can visit makkah and madinah as long as they believe in ( or i suppose respect ) a unitarian god.

99 percent south asian local "imams" are fools... please disregard their ideas.

Well he said Hindus believe in gods of other religions. So by going according to his logic Hindus should have no objection in Masjid at that place as they also believe in dieties placed in masjid.

Yes but only in the dreams of RSS brainwashed victims.

Actually, Hindus believe in just One Supreme God - and believe that God has multiple manifestations. Theological debate aside, most Hindus would not have a problem with mosques - this country belongs to all of us. I wish the Muslim leadership had allowed the Babri mosque to be moved a few kilometers away to assuage the concerns of Hindu citizens. In today's technology, moving of buildings is possible. Having said that, I don't condone the breaking of the mosque - a faith is as strong as its adherents - a building of brick and mortar is not going to shake its foindations.

The Kodava's (coorgi) practices are more or less Nair practices.

I have never come across them offering non veg during Pitru Paksha as they are primarily Shivites. I cannot say this with absolute certainty. I have to look into it.
They use to sacrifice animals for their ancestors..
BTW-Kodavas are not a single caste like Nairs or Eezhavas..There are 10 or even more tribes/castes in Coorg,Who speak Kodava Takk as their mother tongue(including Tribals, even some Muslim sects too)..and are collectively called as Kodavas..
Yes,You are right about their tradition/culture,it has striking similarities with Malayali Nairs and Thiyyas of Kerala including their language 'Kodava Takk'which is basically a mix of Malayalam and Kannada..

Nair's are also not a single caste. There are sub castes like Menons, Kurup, Kaimals, Panikar, Pillai etc.

Animal sacrifice might be a kshatriya tradition and it is unlikely they have anything to do with Ancestor worship. Nowhere in Hinduism does such a practice exist.

Few hundred years back there was a tradition in kalari for Animal sacrifice or even Human sacrifice. This was sponsored by the king when Thamasa pooja or Shakteya pooja was conducted. Especially when the presiding deity of the Kalari was BhadraKali or even Durga.

This tradition was later stopped.

You can observe this in Lokamalayarkavu of the famous Thacholi Othenan and in Kadathanad Kovilakam. The alter is still preserved. The devi there was Loganarkavillama.

This had nothing to do with Ancestor worship. It was a battle and warrior ritual.

Done with this title mingling and forecasting. TOI's article already stated that there is no restriction for Non-Hindus' entry but they'll have to take the permission of the trust's manager.
