Just learned that during Renaissance Period ottomans used a simplified version of italian language to deal and negotiate in the eastern mediterranean since we italians dominated the med in trade.
The language they used was mostly simplified italian + some greek, turkish, spanish and portuguese words.
Is anyone here who speaks it? Its called Sabir. I looked on youtube but only found a band with that name.
as far as i know it was spoken from 1000 to the 19th century.
I do reenactment and play a guard officer of the 15th century from my hometown Lucca. Knowing a little bit Sabir would help me and my friends to be more authentic.
