coup are almost never attempted in democratic country with strong professional military unless it is uniform strong coup, so it would be surprising if it fails...the bigger problem is turkish rural area where tayab support is overwhelmingly strong...its lilke extreme forum of bhutto-sim, there is no way people will tolerate this coup.

Breaking the chain of command never works , you do that and you fail .... holding the chief of staff hostage was a pretty stupid move

The military ended up siding with the government, as well as the opposition and population.

The coup faction seems to have lost all control of the situation, as the tides turn against them.

Whatever the outcome, it is not going to be pretty.

IF YOU ARE RIGHT WHY WOULD THE PRESIDENT BE SO SCARED TO DECLARE WHERE HE IS HOLED UP? i THINK IT IS 50-50 AT THE MOMENT

Because of immense public support.
People would have crowded the roads in Rawalpindi and Islamabad carrying banners supporting General Rahil Sharif.

I heard many huge explosions (I'm in Ankara)since 22:30.....those were clearly airstrikes. I wonder which places got bombed.
