Taking stock of the security measures on the eve of the martyrdom day of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md. Shafiqul Islam told media in Dhaka on Saturday that some Bangladeshis responded to the call of the Taliban to join them in their war in Afghanistan and left the country. He said that the hardline Islamist groups have been using the digital media to recruit people for their war in Afghanistan. The DMP Chief said that some of them may be trying to reach Afghanistan on foot.

He said Bangladesh police forces are keeping strict vigil so that no untoward incident happens on the occasion of the martyrdom day of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. All intelligence agencies in Bangladesh are on alert and vulnerable areas have been kept under CCTV observation.

Earlier, on Thursday, Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of DMP had arrested three members of the banned terrorist outfit Neo JMB which included its key bomb maker, said the police chief.

August 15 is observed as the national mourning day in Bangladesh as its founder president and father of nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated along with his entire family on this day in 1971.

Good riddance, let these jihadis die in Afghanistan….. they will most likely have the same fate as some 100,000/- ISIS fighters in Iraq and Syria.
For Bangladesh’s own good, don’t let these people back in.

Let this be a one way adventure.
On a side note is Dhaka really that bad that you opt for Afghanistan ?

. .
Why are they going now when the Americans and Nato troops have left?

@Jugger, you don't like the Taliban made in Bangladesh? You can expect them to go through Indian borders in and out.

I hope they will not start some carnage in your land. They may number 1000 or more. My God!!

Taliban will cause more damage to Pakistan before doing anything to India. These radicals will definitely increase terrorism in all the neighbouring countries to Afghanistan.

See, there was no terrorism in Pakistan before the late 1980s. It all began with the control of Taliban in Afghanistan. Now after 3 decades look at the Pakistani casualties fighting against terror, it’s more than what India lost.
Now you can make your own conclusions.

Americans didn't want eradicate taliban, to leave pressure on pak and Asia.
But now the Taliban can be killed as they are concentrating on mass in big cities. Just chase the groups and kill. But it is not happening, at least so far.

You say this because you are woefully uninformed. There was not just terrorism, but also border violations. Stuff your conclusions...

They couldn't... try as they might. Does the speed of Taliban's campaign tell you something?
