Disagree with you for paying ransom. Agreed that human life should be the priority...

You can do that using diplomacy, but it possiblly doese work, so the best way is pay the ransom to keep them safe.

We are concerned about the captives also and not because they are from my family or my country ,but because they are innocent human beings.And if sacrificing a few lives makes the waters safe then India should not hesiitate in doing that.My friend is in merchant navy and he tells me how scary is to cross gulf odf aden .

may i know what is this merchant navy?is it any special place in or indian navy?

The only way to stop this is to root out the financiers of such missions. Get some men on the ground doing the hard yards to take out the people who are getting people into this kind of thing.

Great. When did I say, I am not concerned with the lives of the sailors. I said we should show them this time who the boss is. By that I mean, we should get the sailors out of danger either by rescue mission or by paying ransom but then launch an offensive on the pirates and destroy their base.

Launching an attack doesn't just mean kill kill kill. It has various objectives and each has to be met in a certain way.

well bro, Somali is nearly govt. less nation............law and order is not a thing there...............what can be expected from that place.
United Nation did tried but attacks on peace keeping forces made conditions worse.......so they pulled out.

IN is for security of India.............and IN do participate in patroling that area along with other nations

We were more worried about the varyag so we checked only that. Your ambassador was in tears when he heard this news and checked with us repeatedlyy if varyag was on the list or not.

Sending navy to deal these pirates is waste of money. Instead the ships sailing in these water should employ 5-10 trained security . may be from para-military or retired mercenaries with backings from coalition of Navy. Money you pay security is compensated by the the insurance premium !! Those pirates are damn smart.. they already have dozen ships under their control. Indians are at high risk as they form majority in sailing world along with philippions/vietnemese.

i think Indian Government should first ensure the safe release of its sailor (pay ransom if required).... the after that its payback with interest .... would be nice to find out if our harriers still work
and the like sum1 said provide security onboard... but the thing is even a single weapon is not allowed on ships includng the cappie, my friend's a sailor and i know so guards might not be possible .. but u know it a ideal trainig tround for IN subs the can get live fire practice ... may be allowing passge (escorting ) 10 ships together in a bunch by international forces can be a option as escorting single ships are not feasible

the problem is you cant kill pirates that will put life of hostage at risk. Other day french/duch nave captures pirates they detroyed their wepon and mother ship but let go pirates. Escorting is another good option. Does the marshals in US air planes carry guns? Some times rules have to change!
