Sid,

Do you have some information regarding Pakistani snipers if you do, please post as we have no information regarding it on almost any site.

Regards.

The SSG is believed to use an assortment of sniper rifles like the scoped up G3, Finnish Tikka bolt actions, as well as Steyr SSG 69 7.62 x 51mm (.308 win) bolt actions.

IMO the regular infantry battalions would be using scoped up G3s.

There's a difference between what you 'believe' to be the case and what actually is. I made the following post in one of the other threads which talked about acquiring additional weapons for PA:

Since SSG requires more precision and accuracy and failure is NOT an option they use the M82-A1A sniper rifle which is Anti-Armour, has 2+miles range and is 50 cal.

The regular army snipers use the locally manufactured G-3 which isn't that great.

There are only a few hundred M82-A1A sniper rifles in use as of now which, when we talk about enhancements and improvements of the Pakistani forces, should be made the standard. The G-3 should be done away with and the M82-A1A given to snipers working with the regular army units.

As for the SSG snipers, I think its about time they got an upgrade for their weapons. Pakistan should use its good relations with the US and buy M87-ELR sniper rifles that are currently in use by the American forces. They are just amazing, in that they are highly accurate (ofcourse the level of accuracy also depends on the sniper himself and his observer) and less prone to jamming.

Sid,
I used the word "believe" since I was not very sure. However, contrary to what people say, the G3 is an excellent rifle and even its scoped up version is good. The difference is in the use of ordinary ammo vis-a-vis match grade ammo.

The pirmary weapon for Snipers in PA (that includes the SSG) is Steyr-Manlicher SSG 69. I have posted pictures of Pakistani snipers with the same rifle on this forum as well. Barrett Light Fifty is essentially an AMR and is used primarily in Pakistan by ANF for interdiction of drug transports. PA also has the Light Fifty in use however its not a specialized Sniper rifle perse.

PA is currently in talks with a Czech company (CZ) to acquire its Sniper rifles. I believe the rifle is CZ750 S1M1.
Czechs plan to export arms, turbines, infrastructure to Pakistan
By Prague Daily Monitor/ČTK / Published 10 May 2007
Islamabad, May 9 (CTK) - Czech trade with Pakistan has been growing after a stagnation in the 1990s, and so has the number of Czech companies active in the Asian country, CTK learnt in a poll today.

Businessmen accompanying Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek on a three-day visit to Pakistan said they wanted to export arms and water turbines to Pakistan, as well as to take part in building local infrastructure.

Czech arms maker Ceska zbrojovka is in talks on the supply of several hundred sniper rifles and several thousand pistols to the Pakistani armed forces.

Czech Mavel is negotiating supplies of turbines for small hydro-electric plants, while ERA is in talks on exports of its Vera radars.
Some Czech companies are already active in Pakistan. Czechs will take part in the construction of the Baloki steam-gas power station. Moravske naftove doly extracts about 300 million cubic metres of gas in Pakistan annually, said its manager Pavel Marek.

Czech trade with Pakistan has been growing for eight years. In 2006, it rose by $12 million year-on-year to about $72 million.

But the Czech Republic has been in the red since 1995. In 2006, Czech exports to Pakistan amounted to $31 million and imports reached $41 million.

The Czech Republic exports above all paper and confectioner's goods, machinery for the textile industry and glass to Pakistan, and imports clothes and textiles from the country.

Czech Economic Chamber president Jaromir Drabek said he expected the Czech balance with Pakistan to continue to grow, although potential political instability in Pakistan is a risk.

"The growth will probably not exceed 50 percent year-on-year, but 20-30 percent is an absolutely realistic figure," said Drabek.

Webmaster, Pakistani sniper training is conducted by the School of Infantry. They run 3 courses of 4 weeks duration each year for the Sniper training. Its mostly attended by NCOs and jawans who have been selected by their units for good marksmanship.

i think the M82 barret is the best option for the SSG which has +12 scope.. remember that snipers are for special forces . we cannot gine every soldier of army the sniper rifle. the burst sniper can be given like M4 or AUG STYR and G3 with scope.

No it isn't It has it's uses but there are better sniper rifles for standard use. Attaching a scope increases accuracy for the average footsoldier.

Don't confuse use and type of scope........
