India is a rich country .
Indians are poor materially in comparison to West .
This attitude has been engrained in Indian DNA from the colonial days. Worship and obedience. Indians just need white acknowledgement. Once they don't get it they become disappointed and hostile. The old colonial hurt resurfaces.
The irony is that no matter how hard Indians try, they will always be looked upon as poor and dirty by their white counterparts. Some perceptions cannot be changed.
this is a first, i get you indians are obsessed with pakistan and try to drag our name through the mud at any chance but why the poor sri lakans ? they dont even say anything to anyone lol. even the bengalis give it back more then the bachara lankans.
just like the spanish did. with india he said spain as well but no one in spain is loosing any sleep about what he said.
indians have an inferiority complex and a complex to prove the world that they aren't a poor 3rd world country but a super power. its hilarious
I wouldn't say India is a rich country. Rather it is a poor country with some World Class Billionaires.
That is another way to phrase it .
In economic terms , India is a lower middle income country with medium human development index .
The statistics don't show the whole picture. Many of the Indians living with the bear minimal wage limit. Besides Indian economy is concentrated on to a very few cities of the entire country. There is a very wide wealth inequality in India.
Agree but that is expected of a country with such a large population . Though people lack disposable income , socialist policies make sure that things don't get worse . A large unorganised sector and agriculture is a big headache for Indian government and economy .
100 year independence goal should be to bring poverty to 1 % of the population , push labour from agriculture to manufacture , increase in wages equal to a clerk in Public sector i.e from 15000 to 25000 per month i.e income tax block + various social reforms .
Don't blame it on population. It's the same reason why India has become a powerhouse today. There are two sides to a coin. Take a example of China though there are wealth inequality they have managed to increase the wealth of their people to the point that leading manufacturers are flocking to get a share of their giant market.
on’t angry the Indians. There is no limit to an angry Indian’s temper. Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel is facing the burnt over an alleged (yet not proved) remark against the country calling ‘India is poor’ since the news broke out two days ago. From trolling photo sharing messaging mobile app head honcho, to lower Snapchat ratings on the app stores to uninstalling Snapchat as well as Snapdeal (in confusion), the hundreds of enraged Patriots have started mass bullying Miranda Kerr. The fault of the supermodel being she is a fiancée and would-be-wife of Evan Spiegel. The trolls have attacked Miranda Kerr and abusing her by posting derogatory comments about her. Once again let us remind you, so much of anger has been shown against Evan over an UNVERIFIED ALLEGED COMMENT! Snapchat India users delete the app, trend #BoycottSnapchat protesting CEO Evan Spiegel’s ‘poor country’ remark!
It is a commonly observed scenario among Indian cyberspace – we love trolling. And, we love to troll because we love getting offended easily, very easily. Once offended, we satiate ourselves by pulling down the offender in question by hurling abuses, passing derogatory remarks. If that is not enough, we move to level two – abuse everyone related to that person, mostly a woman. Cornering and mass abusing a female celebrity for no fault of theirs face the brunt of angry Indian trolls. In the latest case, Miranda Kerr is the victim of horrendous online trolling because of her fiancé’s professional life. The Australian model is in a relationship with Evan Spiegel since 2015. Snapdeal mistaken for Snapchat and uninstalled by angry users enraged at Evan Speigel’s comment ‘India is poor’!
From calling Miranda Kerr a mindless person to be in a relationship with Evan Spiegel to asking her to teach him about the powerful nation, Indian users are stopping at nothing. It is a pity to see such a shameful behaviour from the online trolls against a person who is unnecessarily dragged into the controversy. Indians in their everyday fights use cuss words related to opponents female relatives and the rampage against Miranda looks no different. This veiled attack against Miranda Kerr reminds us of the trolling Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma faced when her cricketer boyfriend Virat Kohli under-performed in the matches. Take a look at the poor display of bashing by trolls. Snapchat denies CEO Evan Spiegel called ‘India as poor country’, as claimed by ex-employee of social media app.
1. Indians will find you and teach you a lesson!
2. Really Dumb of this person posting it!3. Are you serious troll about posting this piece of s**t?
4. She has better things to do, brotha!
5. Proud Indians are on a carnage!
6. Not much sense, but will still puke hatred
7. Teach him manners while I learn none!
The fiasco started after American website, Variety report quoted an ex-employee of Snapchat, Anthony Pompliano claimed that Snapchat CEO told him that the popular app is “only for rich people” and he showed no interest in expanding business to ” poor countries like India and Spain”. Despite parent company Snap.inc denying the remarks, the Indian users seem in no mood to forgive the popular photo-messaging app easily.

India for most part is an agrarian economy compared to manufacture based Chinese economy . Chinese liberalised 20 years before us which gives them a huge boost . 50 % of Indian workforce is employed in agriculture then there are issues of underemployment , seasonal employment , disguised unemployment among others that accompany such agrarian structure .
I personally feel , we are being held down by our agriculture sector . If in classic case 1 person can raise 1 tone of rice , we in India have 4 people doing the same work for same produce . 3 additional people are just useless to the economy .
I would like to compare the stats from India and China for 1951 and 1991 .
India wanted to leapfrog by going the services route, bypassing the manufacturing phase. I had been hearing how India will beat China because they have freedom and democracy since the 1980s. Today we can see how that turn out and now Indians say China had a head start to excuse their failure.
Sorry, you are right. Its not a failure. In fact it could be considered a success with such a large country with its different ethnics and cultures. Its slower when compared to China's growth which is "unpresidented". Hopefully China and India, together, will beat out the West in their own way and at their own pace.Failure ? When did we fail ?
We are only improving though the rate of improvement is quite slow .
Modi has insulted Indians by calling them poor is ok.
But not when its Snapchat CEO?
Hypocrite Indians?
