In place of the SLPL, SLC will hold the usual inter-provincial Twenty20 tournament featuring five domestic sides without involving any overseas players.

A four-week slot has been delineated as an ideal time for the tournament next year, while SLC will continue to placate the BCCI into allowing its players to take part.

The Sri Lanka board was left with little choice but to prorogue the tournament after the BCCI barred its players from taking part in the event. The India board's reservation was based on concerns that with a third party financing the tournament, disputes would arise over Indian player's payments.

BUt even as SLC guaranteed its financial backing for the players. The BCCI was not satisfied and continued to maintain its stance, which stands in opposition the boards of Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies and Pakistan, all of which lent their support to the SLPL. Even Tim May, the chief executive of Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA), has backed the event.

I like to hear Sri Lankan view on this, who made several threads about SLPL. :azn:

whats the big deal?
i am sure SLPL will be success whenever it starts..

It need Indian players, as SL said part of the success is to get TV rights in India, which it failed to do.

How many in India are going to watch it even if Indian players are selected??
I think SL should design it in a way that it will be a huge domestic hit...
