Well these days tree's are specially grown for Christmas in plantations, just like how they do for timber, So it's not as people go on cutting down tree's in the forests
Still it is not sufficing the actual reason.
Are you saying, it was started to celebrate the winter's evergreen trees, and now trees are grown specially to celebrate the festival. I would rather say why to cut the trees? Why not grow them in the garden or community parks and decorate it there.
Also, is there an religious significance of the tree or it is just for decoration?
