HAFIZABAD: The Jalalpur Bhattian police on Thursday registered a murder case against 11 people, including six PTI workers. The booked PTI workers, included by-election candidate Abdul Rauf alias Rai Haq Nawaz, and five others, were Zahid Hussain, Habibullah, Sahib Khan, Muhammad Farooq and Mamoon Ahmad.

Earlier, Abdul Rauf of Thatha Gahra was seriously injured in a shootout between PTI and PML-N supporters during the PP-107 by-election on May 29 and a case was registered against Rai Shakibullah and others.

On Wednesday night, Rai Shakibullah, a guard of PML-N district senior vice-president Ch Muhammad Bakhsh, was returning from the police station after giving evidence in the case when some of his opponents allegedly opened firing on him. As a result, he died on the spot while an unidentified villager was injured.

Meanwhile, a large number of villagers of Thattha Gahra staged a demonstration after the funeral prayer of Rai Shakibullah. Meanwhile, a man murdered his wife over a minor dispute at Mirza Bakhseeka village on Thursday. Ghulam Abbas exchanged hot words with his wife Jannat Bibi. He allegedly shot his wife dead. Police have taken the body into custody and started an investigation.
