Yeah they're not running expensive plants (oil once) for now because it increases circular debt. If they do it for 5 years, IMF won't be happy. Do it for 3 months leading to election, they wouldn't care as much.

By end of 2017 there will also be more efficient plants than currently. Also our transmission lines do not allow enough power to be added to grid at a time. I wonder when will that be fixed?

Finally, one reason our reserves hit low prior to 2013 election was PPP using reserves to pay for generation and other stuff, as rupee was depreciating a lot and they wanted to keep prices low
