China on Tuesday said the strategic economic dialogue (SED) with India next week will help deepen economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. A high-level Chinese delegation headed by Zhang Ping, chief of National Development and Reform Commission parallel to the Planning Commission of India – is heading to New Delhi for SED onNovember 26. His team will include officials from various government agencies, business enterprises, financial and research institutions.
Calling it an “important activity”in the calendar of China-India friendship year, foreign ministry spokesperson, Hua Chunying said the interaction is expected to step-up multi-tiered expansion in the economic field for both countries.
On the Indian side, the meeting will be co-chaired by MS Ahluwalia, vice-chairman of the Planning Commission of India.
Stepping up cooperation in the infrastructure projects had figured during Monday’s meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao on the sidelines of ASEANmeeting in Phnom Penh, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying told reporters here today.
Hua quoted Wen as telling Singh that "the Chinese government will continue to encourage reputable Chinese enterprises to invest in Indian projects".
Hua said the aim of the SED wasto deepen and expand mutuallybeneficial cooperation in investment, infrastructure, high-end technology, energy conservation and environmental protection.
The first SED meeting was held in September, 2011.
“The dialogue is an important consensus reached between Premier Wen and Prime MinisterSingh in December, 2010. The purpose of the dialogue is to step up coordination on macroeconomic policies, enhance exchanges and interaction and jointly tackling economic problems in the course of economic development,” Hua said on Tuesday at the regular press briefing by the foreign ministry.
On the issue of the Sino-India border talks, she said discussions through the mechanism of special representatives were on since 2003.
Hua said both countries were guided by the principle of resolving the dispute.
The last meeting between the special representatives – Shiv Shankar Menon from India and Dai Bingguo from China – was held in January this year.
Though Hua didn’t confirm when the next meeting will be held, Menon is expected in China in the coming months.
Hua said information about the next meeting will be released in“due course.”

Good. More stability and more prosperity in our bilateral relations.

But CD, isn't China following protectionist measures when it comes to imports from India while dumping it's goods in India in return, I mean $ 20 billion trade deficit for India is too much for a good trading relations.

We have no specific protectionist measures against India.

They are general measures, applying to everyone, and every country we trade with.

We have a net trade surplus overall, but we also have large trade deficits to places like Japan and Taiwan. If you can manufacture the things we import, you can have a trade surplus against China too.

Hope trade reaches to $ 100 billion before 2015. By 2015, we should have at least double of today's ($ 65 billion), i.e $ 130 billion.

which product does china mainly import from india?
medicine? india has many protectionist measures.
example: china want to import iron ore and many natural resource from india.
but india dont want export much natural resource
trade deficit is not because of china. It is depends on india.

Buddy, India is also a developing country. We need iron ore just like you do. India recently got mines in Afghanistan where you got Ayanak Copper mines.

We can't export what we need for ourselves right now. look at India and China in Africa. We are most resource hungry nations because of our massive size and growing economy.

India and China are also working Mutually Exclusive zones in Many countries to acquire resources .

For Example in Iran we both have Oil Fields , In Afghanistan we both have mines and Even in Africa and South America some oil fields as well as access to other natural resources .

All without Waging any kind of war and Also Defying unilateral sanctions of U.S. and E.U. on Iran . We even Stood Together on Carbon Footprint issue in U.N.

No Matter how much we "Hate" each other but on Global Stage at many places we have to stand besides each other to protect our own interests .

India-China Relationship the next big thing of this century ... We r the biggest population so both r the biggest market as well the biggest producers ...

hope Modiji get elected & take this relation to an another level ... forget about Brotherhood we just need trade & commerce ...
