There is nothing that is prohibited in Hinduism with regards to using animal skin. People could consume the meat or leather of the dead animals, if they want.
As you know your skin is best when you are young and same is true for other animals. The leather industry is dependent on beef industry. India can harvest the skins of the dead cows and Dom caste can eat the flesh. Eating animals who died of natural causes are prohibited and only proscribed animals with ritual slaughter are permissable according to the Muslim Halal and the Jewish Kosher laws.
