Should PIA be?

sale it 49% and give charge to private group kick out 10000 useless workers and work with 10000 reaming workers .5 years and you will start getting back millions$ per month

Bull Crap. Government has no business running Airlines. Over the last 40 years PIA has cost the Taxpayer Hundreds of Billions of Rupees. Sell the Airline to Pakistani Investors and let the Professional People run this Airline.

.
its laughable that the sick corrupted employees organization want to protect the PIA by making a fool from govt and attempting an emplyess buy out..
they can do the buy out but as they were gifted 12% of shares by PPPP( a total of 1000s of billion assests were gifted to PPPP workers in every govt institute !!)..but how would they run it in profit..!!?
it would go down to the drain and govt would have to come and save it agian , lets hope that doesnt happen..
we need some one to fire some people, there is simply no otherway

.
this will lead to a major unemployment, hence it is not a suitable option.....we should do things which would benefit both us and the unemployed....

huge eliminations will also result in shame as it will show that we comprise an incompetent staff :(

Those in PIA have already made enough and being so much overstaffed have lesser number of days to be on duty or not there at all. They have been able to establish their own business so dont worry about their earning.
As regard embarrassment; that factor is already their with the state of affairs PIA is being managed and their incompetence is already evident.

Firing may not mean straight away firing, but a solution similar to @ziaulislam can be worked out.

It would be another case like UBL. They want to buy out but to run it profitably they will have to fire the share holders. or they will just scavenge on what is left over, closing all doors for the national airline.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) can save billions of rupees in reduced fuel cost by
better aircraft turnaround time, controlling pilferage of unpaid luggage and cargo,
decreasing weight and efficient utilisation of existing facilities, unions said on Friday.
A detailed report prepared by Joint Action Committee of PIA Employees (JACPIAE) on
ways to bring down PIA’s losses was shared with journalists. The same report has already
been submitted to the board of directors and the management.
“Most of the proposed measures have already been adopted by leading airlines across the
world,” said an official, who worked on the report. “We could do the same. These are little
things, which help bring big changes.”

The weight of the aircraft affects the quantity of fuel consumed during a flight, the official
said. “Every PIA flight carries an extra 750 kilogrammes in the shape of a flight pack, which
includes a spare tyre and few other things that have never been used. We follow outdated
ways,” he added.
These changes, along with other proposals were never taken seriously by the management or
other senior officials in the government, union officials said.
The government has decided to sell a 26% stake along with management control in the lossridden
PIA.
A senior leader of JACPIA said that unions were even ready to take a cut in salaries, provided
some sincere effort was visible by the management to fix PIA. “There are a lot of things that
need to be done before it comes down to sacking employees.”
Published in The Express Tribune, September 21st, 2013.

How naive these PIA employees are. Employees are the top contributing factor in PIA's down fall.
