Should Pasha get another Extension and Why ?

On topic: No, he should not get an extension since no man is irreplaceable and trying out new ideas, policies through a change in leadership should be welcomed.

Pasha has served as DG ISI for a long enough term to have had plenty of time to enact any reforms/changes/improvements he might had wished to.

I don't believe that giving him more time would necessarily allow him to accomplish something that he has not managed to so far.

Dunno what the culture in the armed forces is but here in the corporate sector (or even governmental civilian setups) getting an extension for the latter and overstaying your tenure for the former does have a resentful back-lash amongst your juniors. I think Pasha should call it a day when the time comes and let his successor take over.

Well, the ISI does not really work in the manner of a corporation, as you outlined.

The DG ISI has, AFAIK, always been appointed from outside the organization - the ISI does not appear to have a 'promotion/career structure' exclusive to it - a lot of military officers rotate in for a term and then back out (which is something I disagree with).

I think that the ISI should in fact be made more of a 'career based organization' - though the DG himself/herself does not have to come from the organization itself.

I would be quite comfortable if the top brass in Pak Army are retired AFTER Zardari Govt. is out.

I dont want to give the Gilani/Zardari to pick incompetent yes men as replacements.

Pak Armed forces should not be destroyed by this traitor Govt.

Moral authority is subjective, and many of the complaints you raise are speculative.

At the end of the day the decision is a legal and political one.

One might as well ask 'what moral authority the PPP has in continuing to cling to power, given its abysmal record at governance'.

and you think Pakistan's policy made by PPP or govt parties right ?? Pakistan foreign policy and internal policy made by civilians ? and you think this govt elected through legal process...

if not... then please tell which party exact word "STATE WITH IN STATE" intervention and interfere in the policies and in policy making.. please mention name... after that i will blame PPP and civilian govt!

Extension should not be granted to any Officer,Civil or Military, let the system work. Both of respected General should declare that they are not interested in Extensions! BTW who knows who will be there at PM office in March, be aware Ides of March!!!!
