IDF planes do not enter Syrian airspace. They only strike with stand off missiles from Lebanon airspace. The only time an F-16I got a navigation error and entered Syrian airspace by mistake it got promptly shot down by S-200. Make no mistake, S-300PM2 is excellent deterrent.

Why would the border be a barrier to protecting your country and airspace, if an aircraft is attacking you? If an aircaft attacks you, then you have to shoot it down, right? Which airspace that aircraft is in, then becomes irrelevant? F16I pilot got shot down because he didnot take the appropriate countermeasures, not because of navigation...
