Should Indians be forced to join the army?

What rubbish! Many of my friends have experiences of something else! I do not want to go in details but getting IA, IN and specially IAF officer technical level jobs are one of the toughest and salary, facilities are high. Those are getting jobs in Siemens, CISCO, Microsoft, Tata or Oracle rejected by IA and IAF. I know many. :taz: :taz::taz:

It is tough. My brother was a very bright student and tried in IAF but could not get through. They took only few. After initial all India technical screening test, it was five day long multistage selection! Salary is good.

Hey.......I was the best guy in sports and physically most fit......so where some of of my friends....I was rejected thrice at SSB and I still deeply feel sad about it ..as all that i wanted ever was tp join Indian Army.....
I have seen all the tough tests one has to go through to become an Army Officer........Leading Troops is not an easy tasks and only the most capable are selected.

I have seen hords of us from all over India being rejecetd so regularly...............even post the written exams, the selection ratio is hardly is 2-5 % and it is deteriorating further every year......

I am a corporate banker now with MNC bank and earn very well...but when I acompared my salary and benefits , i still feel my army friend is better off....facilities in Armed Forces are enormous from the British Time.....

anyway.........India will never need to force Indians to join Army .......human resource is not we will lack in next 100 years.

Question that I have pondered and believe is that Indian Army purposely shows shortage of offficer ranks....reason could be many..

.
Might be because there aren't too many opportunities in other job sectors in Pakistan, so most take up armed forces as an easier way to get a decent job. Not the case in India though.... the private sector salaries are sometimes 5 to 10 times of the salaries in the armed forces.

More than the jobs its linked to dedication in case of Pakistan we have the later and thats why you see youngsters from middle class as well as Elite class opting for army at a time when they are still studying.

here we never needed any TV commercial to force our people to join Army.

.
construction work?

:what: what is there to laugh ? Engineers corps is the best example.

here FWO (Frontier Works Organisation) an organ of our forces is constructing one of the best roads. Our Engineering corp is constructing the most vital and difficult roads in FATA and so on.

Its about opportunities.

Beside, the role of armed forces in both the countries is different. An armywala is a common man on the roads of India.

Jana ..........try compare the selection criterias in both the countries and also post selection years of training the army officers needs to go through to become an officer.......

Indian talents is scouted by and also employed by many corporates around the world and in good and increasing percenatge......( Pakistan is no where near it). The ads are because Indian Army has to compete with best of the corporates to get teh best resources .......and they get the best as they do not compromise in quality.....the reason the slecetion ratio is 2 to 5 pct only.

Please do remeber that India is run by ciliviians and hence army has to always present a case to cilvilians to get resource allocation ( unlike pakistan where army decides everything and conusme majority of funds) .....

artficial shortage of officer creates necessary pressure on civilinan to increase the perks of armed forces

Lolzz the selection criteria in Pakistan is very very tough for the forces and at any point if you are not worth the army you are weeded out simple as that. The training process is very very tough here as well. i dont know why you are even finding excuses for comparing with any other country.

Its Indian issue and you must not be finding refugee in any other country to blame the shortage.

i can only speak for my country Pakistan where going to Army by youth as regular soldiers and commissioned officers is linked more to Dedication, and pride than money or job.

In other words Indian army is acting like a commercial corporation and hence it has to compete with private corporate sector so in such a situation Indian army has to offer the same perks and privileges and salary as those offered by private companies

Please do remeber that India is run by ciliviians and hence army has to always present a case to cilvilians to get resource allocation ( unlike pakistan where army decides everything and conusme majority of funds) .....

same is here.the budget has to be passed by our civilian govt and army can not take it by force. its another matter that in Indian the so-called civilian govt is spending huge huge amount on buying military weapons but refuses to spend on human resource that is the soldiers.

artficial shortage of officer creates necessary pressure on civilinan to increase the perks of armed forces

:) so in other words Indian army is playing a topi drama by creating "artificial" shortage of officers to pressurise govt for extracting perks

I think Indian Army is not involved in any recent work. Well in Pak Army the Engrs. Corps. takes part in construction work, like recently when the country faced flood; PA built bridges. .

You are very wrong. Pakistan is run by Army and civilians can not call them to assist unless Pakistan Army volunteers...

In India even the provincial govt calls them to assist so often that these things do not make nay news...sorry..one exception was the CWG Fiasco where when Army made the fallen overbridge in a day, it made news.,...but that was for different reason

well, IA does excels in military tech but not in training. . . Go and search Cambrian Patrols on the internet and make yourself familiar with the results. .

nevermind indeed ignorance is bliss for some people like you.

now why dont you focus on your own issue. it was you who im-plied that it was artificial shortage created by your Indian army for minting perks from govt.

 sorry state of affairs coming down to this started by embezzlement in army ration to hay and now to this in Indian army

Mister you are seriously misinformed about Pakistan Army. :cheesy: The civilian govt calls them whenever they need Army's help. Just one month ago a huge fire erupted in a market place at Lahore, and army was called for aerial support by the local authorities. . . :coffee:
