Should CEC ECP be Independent or chosen by PM/Opposition Leader?

Do you think this amendment is fair that chief election commissioner be independent and ECP be an autonomous body or should the sitting prime minister and opposition leader choose the chief election commissioner?

A Prime Minister / Opposition leader gets elected via Election Commission, so its a conflict of interest if the head of ECP is being selected by PM / Opposition leader.

that is a good point to begin with, how it undermines the impartiality of ECP.

this was the first election that was held in this manner and results were devastating..

should be independent . in this way they are less likely to be pressurized or influenced . government and opposition (specially present one) will first make sure a yes man is head of ECP before voting him in.

that is where the political leadership is honest, but that is an administrative issue, there too there should no control of legislators over administrative matters, as it is in the west and accomplished democracies..

so that is why let alone ECP, police too should be completely out of control/influence of politicians. should be completely independent to do their work.
