Shiv Sena wants 'Secular' word to be removed from Indian Constitution

All changes to the constitution are subject to the basic structure doctrine. Certain characteristics of the constitution are regarded as being untouchable which means no amendments will be allowed regardless of whatever majority one may produce. The preamble can be changed (as it was) if one produces a 2/3rd majority but the essence of the constitution cannot be changed regardless of majority and secularism has been explicitly pronounced as being part of the basic structure.
In Pakistan
this rings similar bells with the opponents of amendment of army act and the powers vested to the military courts. the opponents of these changes say the same that the Supreme court will throw out the amendment because its against the fundamentals of Pakistani constitution ( note: some of whom offer free legal aid to high profile murder Mumtaz Qadri & Lal Masjid Cleric Abdul Aziz, but also include some left wing liberals & human rights activists like Asma Jahangir )

That argument in Pakistan is essentially based on the Indian Supreme Court's doctrine of "Basic Structure". In Pakistan, it is not yet settled law though the principles were first enunciated by a Pakistani Chief Justice. In India, it is a judgment by the full constitutional bench, therefore cannot be overturned.

Then what Obama hinted, will become true(dis-integration).

Gandhi and Nehru promised special treatment to Muslims if they stayed back. That's an unfulfilled promised.

You don't do that because you are scared of us and the consquences. Not because you're kind.

There is no special treatment based on religion.

. . . .
Depends on the mandate they have. Rightnow they have majority in Lok Sabha with 283 Seats + 18 Seats of Shiv Sena. And the way BJP is winning state elections one after other they are not much far from getting majority in Rajya Sabha too which will give them complete mandate to amend constitution on their own. Dont necessarily have to wait 20 Years for such change.
To change constitution (part of) government require 2/3 majority and the bill must pass in both session. No ordinance and no joint session in this type of bill. So both this criteria will never be fulfilled, as getting majority in Rajiya sabha only it will take early 2017 at least.
So there is no time for all these nonsense, secular and socialist was put in constitution by congress in mid to end 1970,s so either we were Hindu Rastra before 1970 or Shiv Sena is just looking for political gain.
