Observer and Research Foundation (ORF) Chairman and former BJP idealogue Sudheendra Kulkarni on Monday alleged that the Shiv Sena workers threw black ink at him for organising a book launch for the former Pakistani Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri.

The foreign policy think tank has organised a launch event for the former Pakistan foreign minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri's book and had said that it will continue as scheduled amid threats from Shiv Sena.

Kasuri is scheduled to attend the launch of his book Neither a Hawk nor a Dove: An Insider's Account of Pakistan's Foreign Policy at 5.30 pm in Worli on Monday.

The attack on Kulkarni has taken place even as he met Sena president Uddhav Thackeray at his residence Matoshree. It was understood that the meeting would be futile and Kulkarni left Matoshree without getting any assurance from the Sena leader

Speaking to the news agency, Kulkarni had said, "I have requested Uddhav Thackeray that Shiv Sena should not oppose the book launch event. I also told him that the event will proceed despite Sena's threat." Recently, Sena's threat to disrupt Pakistan ghazal singer Ghulam Ali's concerts led to cancellation of his events in Mumbai and Pune.

Kulkarni has served as speechwriter for BJP veterans Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani.

The Sena, which shares power with the BJP in Maharashtra, had written to the director of Worli's Nehru Centre, the launch venue, to cancel the show because of the Pakistan connection. Maharashtra's home department, headed by BJP chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, has assured the organisers of full security cover.

But I thought India is the world's biggest democracy. :what:
Extremism is on the rise in India. I'm sure some of it can be attributed to Modi and his background but their seems to be alot more chest thumping than normal going on nowadays.

Shiv Sena is unable to digest the loss in assembly election. They are trying to find ways to bring back voters into their side and trying what they did in past. Anti Pakistan Acts. However, they do not realize that its a different world now. They did not got any support for their act.

But I thought India is the world's biggest democracy. :what:
So do you have the impression that if a country is democratic there will be total peace and harmony and nobody is going to break the law. You guys are very confused with secularism and democracy none of them means there will be no crime.

Yeah we're confused, Indians are all clear headed.

I condemn this action. Everybody have right of freedom and you can't force own views to others.
They are extremist and black spot on humanity.

Shiv Sena has been completely side lined by BJP in Maharashtra & they are on the edge , this was probably the best way to get cheap publicity inking a former BJP member

Atleast in Pakistan, Mobs are not allowed to invade any place.... Lakh di Lanat Shiv sena ...

Appreciate your POV. I echo the same.

Perhaps you wanted to say something extreme about the Shiv Sena. This was not the best way. The Indian Army never gets involved in politics.

.
Shiv Sena got 10 million+ votes in last year's election.

10 million. Let that sink in! This is the level of extremism and anti-Muslim hate in india.
