A ship carrying U.S. soybeans changed destination from China to Vietnam on Saturday as exporters find new buyers for American supplies amid an escalating trade war.

Bulk carrier Audacity left Louis Dreyfus’ Pier 86 terminal in Seattle on Oct. 21 for Qingdao, China with 69,244 metric tons of soybeans, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture inspection data and vessel data compiled by Bloomberg. After six days, it changed course to Phu My, Vietnam, the data show. Louis Dreyfus didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

U.S. soybean vessel headed to China changes course to Vietnam

U.S. soybean trade with China has plunged amid a tariff tit-for-tat. Meanwhile, Vietnam’s imports of U.S. soy have risen 93 percent this year, USDA data show.

How much Soybeans, oil , gas US sold to CN before 1979 ??

. .
What are you talking about? Unable to understand Vietnamese logic
U dont understand a simple thing?? That why your PLA is too stupid in real battle

in 1979 CN GDP merely 300USD/year while US still a rich man in 1979. US dont need to sell soybean, oil to CN to get rich.

.
The same soyabean is being smuggled into China through vietnam. This is all to save face. Production and demand dont change overnight.

If the US can do this, why can't China? :pop:

Well, if Vietnam demand of soybean can beat China, then it's good for USA. But it's not. So, it has a good chance that it will be smuggled to China. Which is good for Vietnam for them to be a middle man.

The problem is, somebody said out loud about this. And write this very article, which give away the secret that supposedly not to be reveal to public. So, this article is a bad news for both USA and Vietnam.
