Ship conversion possibilities for Pakistan Navy

As we know Karachi ship yard is manufacturing fleet tanker for Pakistan Navy

This thread opens the comparison discussion between Pakistan navy fleet tanker (PNFT)

and Canadian auxiliary oiler replenishment ship.(CAORS)(Canadians are going to convert existing german cargo ship
MV Asterix to a replenisent ship )

the only idea is ,start discussing conversion possibilities for Pakistan navy,

it was done before in the world and it’s a good idea ,if it is feasible for PN .

Remember cargo and oil ships are huge enough to fulfill navy needs.

Such as helicopter career, replenishment, hospital ,research and development, force deployment

Or even a dead cargo ship can work as floating base or mobile offshore base. especially after extended sea limits we need some type of permanent presence in newly extended sea area of (50,000 )

As in Arabian sea may be its not feasible to construct manmade island ,only closest point is murray ridge which depth is 1000m near to newly extended sea area.so only mobile offshore base is option. Remember its more than 350 nm from Karachi to extended sea limit.it is minimum 11 to 12 hours at full speed.?

The fleet tanker project is a wonderful project shows the capabilities of Pakistan Navy , however I think for short term we are fine with the Submarine program and few frigates here and there

The problem is not creation of floating base the problem is defending a base in middle of sea which becomes a liability unless you commit 8-10 ships to guard that base

20 Submarines, (15 conventional and 5 nuclear), 10 Cruisers and missiles boats, Air wing with 3-5 AEW similar to E3C , 30 sea king helis, 5-10 mine sweepers, 2-3 destroyers, 5-10 frigates, 3-4 squadron of JF-17 equipped with Ra'ad ALCM and 2-3 squadrons of Su-35s will make PN a formidable forces in the Indian ocean. We really don't need an aircraft carriers but a 100% certain capability to annihilate any aircraft carrier at range more than a 1000 km similar to DF21. You get these and indians won't even come out in the indian ocean.

Remember Its conversion thread.not fregates or subs,providing Facilities is one of the key roles of a base.BAses are constructed when there is need so when need is there ships are there,when no need means no ships means no base.no need of guarding.everything is directly proportional.

The point of the Canadian approach is not just about putting a ship in place quickly (conversion into an AOR is scheduled to be complete in 2017). At that point, Chantier Davie Canada in Lévis, Quebec, will be contracted to provide AOR services to the RCN for a period of five years. The AOR crew will be contracted civilians and Davie will be responsible for the ship's maintenance. This effectively places the interim ship aoutside the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy. Meanwhile, Canada leases AOR capability from other nations. The Chilean Navy has provided its Kaiser class AOR, the Almirante Montt, to service Canadian Maritime Forces Pacific for a short period (40 days or so). An equivalent arrangement is being brokered for the RCN's Maritime Forces Atlantic fleet in Halifax. Here, the lessor will be the Armada española. Spain has previously leased its AOR, A-15 Cantabria to the Royal Australian Navy.

The Netherlands had an AOR similar to the Spanish vessel, but this was sold to Peru when the Dutch navy got the much larger Karel Doorman JSS. Who knows, Peru might lease to Canada, giving the Canadians temporarily 2 highly similar AORs to work with in the short term.

Of course, Canada should have gotten a Dutch JSS in the first place :-)

Incidentally, the Royal AUstralian navy uses a converted commercial tanker as fleet replenishment vessel: HMAS Sirius.

Bro! :-):-) You r 10000% right, I think that Govt. and Army should also consider Navy, it is the weakest part of Quaid's Pakistan :pakistan:

I think PN needs a lot of help. I have heard that the ME might provide funds to buy:
13 UK's Frigates
6-8 used Corvettes
5-7 more OHPs
Eurocopters
10 Andrasta as 8 Chinese submarines are coming.

But Navy should consider in making home made submarine and frigates!!
And is there any Pakistan Aircraft Carrier Program for the navy!!

PNFT is already launched .Episode 2 shows lots of progress in Davie AoR

Recently in Pakistan we saw some developments in Naval strategic sector. Signs are quite clear that Pak Navy share is increase from Atomic Energy/strategic division/Missile development programs.

Recent missile tests means, soon Pakistan may install indigenous missile system .this was already mentioned in MoD yearly report.

The next question is Pakistan strategic division chose which ship regarding Test/Trials for Missile program .existing Pakistan Navy ships/new vessel etc??

It looks like EEZ is now a head pain for Pak gov because gov is already facing rights issues from sindh /Baluchistan gov regarding licencing deep sea fishing.

Its a big challenge for PMSA /Navy to established laws in newly extended sea boundary. Sea state will be challenge for small boats.
Requirement of new reaserch vessel is already mentioned in vedio of Pak navy
