The chief justice ordered to form a five-member larger bench to formulate a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to investigate into the incident.
Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 19th November, 2018) Opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has refused to appear before the court in the Model Town carnage case.
A two-member Supreme Court bench, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, held a hearing of the case in Lahore Registry on Monday. However, opposition leader and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif refused to appear before the court.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore DG Saleem Shahzad appeared before the court. The DG informed the court that Shehbaz Sharif does not want to appear before the court in the case and has requested to send his lawyer instead.
Shahzad said that Shehbaz Sharif has given a written application in this regard.

The larger bench will hold the hearings of the case in Islamabad from December 5.
During the hearing, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his brother Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Shehbaz, former Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah requested for an extension from the court. Approving the request, the court granted an extension of two weeks.
