Shanghai Tower reaches for sky and record

Shanghai's skyline is great, but still no match for HongKong, and other Chinese cities are catching up fast.( sadly Beijing is not one of them)

Its not just about the skyline bro. Its about memorable landmarks which distinguishes a city from others and makes it unique. Shanghai has a very noticeable skyline(pudong), which if you show many people in the world, they can easily recognise its Shanghai, same with New york with statue of liberty, empire state building, Times square etc, Paris with eiffel tower/champs elysees etc, Beijing with forbidden city, great wall, etc, London with london eye, Tower bridge, westminster, etc and so on and so forth.
In this respect great developed world class cities/metropolies like Seoul, Hong Kong(with its endless skyscrappers) or even Tokyo really lack this. If you show people these cities just on pic, most won't know for sure which city it is at first glance, due to they lacking a memorable/unique landmark

The good thing is that Beijing has 6 UNESCO listed world heritage sites and Shanghai has none:yahoo:

While the Shanghai tower is impressive as it is very tall, I still prefer the design of the Shanghai World Financial Center as the design is truly distinguishable, with its iconic "bottle opener"-like design, making it easily identifiable.

The ' Bottle Opener' is getting eclipsed by this new " twister' tower.

The last time I visited my birthplace is in 2011 and things already look MUCH different than back in the 1990s. Shanghai, my beautiful home!

more skyscrapers, more traffic jam, more air pollution... more carpark needed.
and more expensive cost of living.
