Your inability to either comprehend or even remotely counter the claims i have made proves my point... of your IQ ..maybe fix your self before pointing fingers at Indians...

Ill reply when you shed your jingoism and write half a decent reply :disagree:

Make no mistake i highly respect the Chinese , but people like you really need to come to your senses and shed the BIAS

not to feed the troll(s) no more PERIOD

Not theoretical , PISA themselves have claimed there are irregularities in candidates selection process for PISA from Tamil Nadu and Himachal , yes there is a problem and as the problem lies in what i mentioned in post no. 46 ...but the BIAS is obvious

This thread about Shanghai coming first in 1st PISA literally set your indian axx on fire. Do you realize how much of a sore loser you've shown yourself to be in all your posts? And you even had to lie, but you can't fool us.

PISA never claimed any irregularities.

Tamil Nadu and Himachal were selected because they have the highest Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in primary and upper primary education. Tamil Nadu has 100% enrollment.

Every country is free to select which state/city to participate.
If PISA was bias, why didn't india put it right in the next PISA test?
Instead, India pulled itself out of PISA completely.

If you know you can do better, why chicken out?

People who dare to do the ITT JEE exams are already some of the best in their age group. But that does not reflect all students in that age group. The students who pass the ITT JEE exams would probably end at the top quarter of the PISA test. With 1.2 billion people there are bound to be a certain percentage that who are naturally gifted.

For a developing country, Vietnam is doing exceptionally well. Congrats!

Have you see the reaction of the latest PISA result in Germany? We are far from happy and the whole debate has just started.

At least, I'm glad that we have improved a little bit but I, too, am far from content with our education system. We need to be in the top ten!

500,000 people attempt this every year.

I can pretty much guarantee any of those kids would be able to answer 7 * 4 = 28 question posted earlier.

So? What is the percentage of the respective age group taking the test per year?

Christ, why are you guys talking about India? If India doesn't want to be assessed, let it be. I am wondering why some of you even care about India. No matter what you say, it won't change Indians' perspective, so what's the point of those petty arguments?

Lets objectively assess how well education in China is, esp. those poor provinces. To me, I feel that pupils in some central and western parts are lagging education in eastern parts esp. Yantze River Delta at least 20 years when I look at their school libraries, labs, language labs, music education, etc. Those are much more important than test scores. That's why I think Shanghai's education is superb and inequality is the biggest problem that will further widen economy between eastern provinces and western provinces.

You're so right. Nobody in India gives a shyt about the Math and science Olympiad too. India has much tougher tests, no wonder India is nowhere to be seen internationally, be it PISA or academic Olympiad.

Nobody heard about PISA in India, but Olympiads are taken relatively seriously, but again Olympiads have lost lot significance in India in past decade or so. Many good students never attempt Olympiads lest they loose time in preparing for Engineering/medical/University entrance exams.

I think you confused PISA with other contests like Olympiads for which you can prepare. PISA is not a competition among the best students; rather it's an assessment of education level on average students in a region. I have never heard of PISA before and I am sure 99% of people in China have never heard of it, but that's the beauty of it, objective assessment of average students, no preparation, no contests, just assessment.

Most people in China don't know about PISA either. Because it is not a competition, it's just an international benchmark of upper primary education standard.

The same reason why no Indian university ranked in top 200 in the world. The good students were busy studying for entrance exams, and the top Indian universities were busying preparing those exams.

.

This is the precise reason why PISA tests are not indicative of primary education standards.

There is some truth in your statement, but there is more to it. Indians lack research culture. Best students never go for PhDs or become faculty.

U.S should not be worried. As long as Japan, Korea and Vietnam on your side, you will be always sit on China's head. The Chinese will expand no where while they were wrapped North, East and South. U.S. only need to pump economy and military for these brave men in these nations, they will head to head with Chinese to the last men. I bet Chinese brave enough to war with last men of their country since their military history win 0 wars in 300 years.
