Shanghai Residents "Caged In" With Green Fencing To Prevent Them From Leaving Their Homes

East Asians are generally very disciplined. I don't understand why such strict measures in place. Chinese are very disciplined and can take care of themselves without imposing such a harsh measures in place.

Look what happened to Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan. The pandemic is not properly controlled there, the result, huge number of people got infected and many died. If China go that way, million of Chinese could die too.

Which variant is there in China ? In Taiwan people in thousands are getting infected but 5-6 people are dying. It is to be safe better than sorry but Chinese are taking to the next level.

No, There are more than 40 people die a day in Taiwan for the last couple of weeks so. For the minute population of 7 million in Hong Kong, there are more than 10000 people died so far mainly from Omicron. The ones in China are mainly Omicron and Delta variants.

Delta is a scary one but just to contain it you can lock people in their home. If someone is ill he is going to report it. Quarantine him/her and treat them. Why punishing the whole city ? Anyways if you are happy with it then who are we to say anything ?

It's the proven and effective to contain the virus, just treating reported patients is just not enough.

It's just mathematics mate. Let me explain to you in simple terms. On average US is having 100k cases and around 300 dead due to omicron. So the death rate is around 0.3%, now multiply it to 1.4bil Chinese, we are looking at 1 million + to 4 mil deaths. By end of 2022,US is looking at additional 200 to 400k deaths. Yup just from mild omicron. Democracy is about the majority mate, 1% dead is not an issue.

Btw, the Shanghai outbreak is due to omicron, delta is easily controlled by Chinese tactics. Today US has 170k new infections and 600 dead.
