Chairman of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Najam Sethi has asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to change the name of the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore to Edhi Stadium in order to pay tribute to the late philanthropist.

In a tweet, the 68-year-old asked PCB’s Board of Governance (BoG) to approve his suggestion.

Earlier, Pakistan and Sussex teams observed a minute’s silence during their tour match on Saturday, whereas Misbah’s men also wore black armbands in order to pay tribute to Abdul Sattar Edhi, who passed away on Friday night after a long battle with kidney illness.

The 88-year-old was given a state funeral in acknowledgment of his services for the nation for more than six decades.

Not a bad idea by this moron. The name should be changed and nothing would suit it better than naming it after Edhi.

.
I agree it is a good idea. Better to name our national stadium after our national heroes.

.
This change of name bring a lot of politics, better to keep the original as such and name some future monument on Edhi's name.

Rather than doing such symbolic act, I would say contribute to his work and make Edhi foundation even a bigger and stronger NGO.

In fact Edhi is one of the few figures who was as apolitical as they come. He was respected by everyone. Sunni, Shia, Punjabi, Sindhi everyone. He represented the best of Pakistan and it is only befitting that our national stadium be named after him.

That's correct, he was most apolitical person, I never said otherwise.

What I meant to say is, changing the names bring in politics from political people. This may not be true for Edhi at this moment but I do not favour changing names. I would say his names should be given to a new place and not to a place previously known for some other guy.

You should rename the stadium with Edhi, if you want to get rid of Gaddafi legacy. Than its ok.

Edhi Shb was a non political figure.....

Why to change the name of Gaddafi stadium...why not changed the Benazir Income Support program to Edhi Income Support as it will suit more to the program rather naming after an utterly corrupt woman in the history of Pakistan. Why not change the Bacha Khan Airport to Edhi Airport.

I did not know abt this guy. Learned it over the wiki. Very nice guy.

I would want him to be recognized as well as mother Teresa. But it's a shame that a pakistans people put him in the same category as Hafiz syeed.
