Punjab Chief Minister Najam Sethi has said there is a dire need of modernization of traffic system.

He directed that necessary steps should be taken to make traffic system more effective, for which traffic rules should be strictly implemented, while the traffic officials should deal with the citizens with courtesy, along with providing them necessary guidance about traffic rules. He said besides arranging seminars at educational institutions, an effective strategy should also be adopted to apprise the general public of traffic rules.

Separately, Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Sharat Sabharwal called on thePunjabchief minister at the CM Secretariat. Matters of mutual interest and bilateral relations were discussed on the occasion.

Sethi saidPakistanandIndiawere neighboring countries and will have to follow the policy of peaceful coexistence. He said that Pakistan and India should resolve their bilateral issues through meaningful dialogue as wars have given nothing except poverty, price-hike, hunger and devastation to the two countries.

The chief minister said that India and Pakistan should take solid steps to increase bilateral trade.

He said that exchange of trade, cultural and social delegations can also help improve bilateral ties. The chief minister said that war is not the solution but the cause of problems and India and Pakistan will now have to fight in the economic field and move forward in an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
