Seraikistan - A New Seraiki province out of Punjab?

look make 10 provinces but don't call them after ethnic communities!! infact change name of sindh,balochistan,KP & punjab!! make them relate to nothing. like punjab to chenab or something!!! its high time we cut down on provincialism it is the root cause of racism!!

I dunno why we want to abolish the province identities. I see no harm in them. Suppressing ethnicity will result in East Pakistan like situation. Federation should learn to trust people as they are.

Sorry for butting in, but people have multiple identities at different levels. Street, city, caste, ethnicity, language, religion, province, country, race to name a few, nationality merely one of them at national level. And yes, these identity groups exist because they are interest groups at some level. Nobody desires an identity that has no benefit for them.

So supressing a desired identity will always be opposed and will create issues.

As to how administrative provinces in Pakistan be formed, what principle followed etc are extremely tricky situations in India too, and I'm sure in Pakistan. No comments on Pakistani side, but in India we created three new states few years ago quite peacefully but some contentious ones remain open.

It is a fact I am a Punjabi, it is a fact that we have Pushtuns, Baluchs, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Baltis etc. in Pakistan. These identities existed for thousand of years. Pakistan was created only 64 years back. We all are Pakistani as Pakistan is our country but we have to understand Pakistan is a federation of different countries call Punjab, Pakhtunkawa Baluchistan Sindhi Kashmir etc. with different languages customs etc. We have to acknowledge this fact and learn to live with each other as we are and not by artificially changing people.

i am saying remove all "offical" ethnic grouping like punjab sindh balochistan! hence everyone becomes equally deprived hence no complaining! currently its easy to blame everything on sindh and punjab the two developed provinces running the nation!

no one should suprress local culture but federally local ethnic groups should be recognised only as pakistani! and in india we are seeing the telengana issue as well!

its time we stop having tunnel vision.

federation if different countires seized to exist! the minute pakistan was made!! its time we recognize ourselves as pakistani first and then urdu speaking sindhi balochi punjabi next!! i am not saying suprress people's culture or language but make them think collectively for pakistan not for their city or province!! the problem today is people only care when something happens in lahore or karachi!! no one cares about rest of paksitan's problem! like quetta to multan to fata areas! time to think collectively no more discouragement or encouragement of ethnic groups!

But in my opinion not practical and will create isues of its own.

Telangana issue is a tricky issue like ANY new province issue, its emotional. But generally accepting identities, accepting differences automatically breeds more tolerance and peace. well what i said is not idealistic because clearly no one ever thought europe will become so friendly & in harmony after the 2 world wars. but today you see french,germans,polish,itlans all sit together and discuss and form a single currency! if they can overcome such challenges and get out of useless arguments and progress i think its time for provinces and ethnicites within the country to work together to progress.

Brother, why would you want to continue with something that has repeatedly failed to unite us? Infact, why would you support something that has continued to divide us? Let us demolish all ethnic lines, dissolve all provinces and divide the country into administrative units under city governments, completely autonomous in their matters except Defence, Foreign Affairs, and Finance.

Provisional nationalism did not failed us, it was actually our distrust on that nationalism that failed us. Mavrick I agree that autonomous governing areas should be establish, i believe all division should be declared provinces. Regarding division on ethnic level, ideally its the best thing u r saying but provisionalism is a fact !!!! and this reality should not be challenged instead it should be used in Federation favor

If separate state can make the development, governence and administration better, it is justifiable. If somebody demands separate state just for the sake of ideitity, then it is not acceptable. This will encourage many other ethinic groups to raise similar kind of demands, which will become a big problem for peace and development and this will further deepen the division among people.
