Senate rejects Trump deal, reinstates ban against ZTE (China Telecom)

You joking right? This is bad news for China. Trump is being pro-China, yet SENATE voted against his decision. How's that good news for China? China needs American dollars and more sales in the US. You're so delusional. Stop the hatred responses. Also, stop replying to my messages.

For Chinese, crisis is equal to opportunity, Americans might think that they're holding China by the ball by refusing to sell any micro chips to Chinese communication industries but as nationalist, we would rather to see that happen and force Chinese government to guide Chinese high tech industry into a self reliance path as how we did with our military industries. You Vietnamese must jump of joy to see that as misfortune for China but we Chinese have a different perspective and we're not giving up on China.

And I don't' delude myself, China can't always rely on selling to US it need to diversify the source of income after 40 years of milking US and I don't see how hatred was my responses LMAO.

at least 1 billion CNese hate king XI now (when he gave him and his family the right to rule CN for good). SO, they will support US-TW to take XI family down in 2023. US saw it, thats why US slap more sanction on XI's family and move more lethal weapon to TW to prepare for 2023 CN chaos

U r also anti-XI, right ??

our VCP have same problem wt CCP: million haters against her now.

WHy VNese support Ho Chi Minh during VN war ?? Cos HCM dare to dismiss VCP for the benefit of VN in 1946, so ppl in the South also believe that HCM will create a much better society for VNese.

IF VCP do the same thing like Xi's family (one family rule the country for good), then Im sure that VN will get same trouble like Xi now.

Yeah, Trump may be fired but US's sanction on CN will still increase when Hilary Clinton become US president...and its even worse for CN when Clinton re join TPP:cool:
Do you know what does even slight slow down of Chinese economy means ? It means encashing US treasury bills trillions of which are owned by China,, So if China starts encashing them dollar will wipe off as a trustworthy currency and we will have a world economic and currency crisis ...

So unfortunate news to you guys, China has played very well and is hedged against any stupid economical warfare tactics by US ...

What do you think why it is taking so much time to impose any sanctions on China whereas in case of Russia it is always so easy ?

US treasury just lost a billion dollars in revenue, ZTE didn't pay billions in extortion, and Qualcomm losses $2.4 billions. US treasury losses another half a billion in tax revenue. Net loss to US taxpayer, $1.5 billion. Defies common logic, just US politics losing touch with realities. I think Qualcomm just layoff 1500 US employees last week.

ZTE PAID the 1.6 billions dollar fine the first time around when they were caught selling US product to Iran and North Korea, the ban came after the second warning (The first warning is the fine) which ZTE are supposed to stop the sale and replace the official. Trump offer to offset the ban via a fine and an agreement to ZTE, it was rejected by Senate.

Qualcomm did not lay off those 1500 employee because of ZTE, the notification date (any massive laid off in the US have to notify Department of Labor) predated the ZTE scandal (I think Qualcomm lodged the notification somewhere in March or April this year) The laid off is more akin to the upcoming acquisition of NXT. In fact, Qualcomm financial health is better in May and June than previously, as you can see from their stock price.

As I said before, Trump cannot unilaterally reverse the ban, and this move is expected in the US by many people.

Please read carefully on the link. The first tract of payment (part of original fine) is only $361 million paid...amended Fine is plus $1 billion + 400 million in escrow for potential violations against new addendums. US legislative process do allow for further amendments, a rejection of senate bill is not a death sentence. So not the end all be all. US house senate legislative procedure is very flexible and the Republicans with dominant control in both obviously can string the puppets along.

Qualcomm has far better intel than we do, and the lay off obviously is to get its own house in order. Qualcomm has active lobbyist understanding the inner workings of fines against ZTE especially with the merger situation. If NXT merger is declined, further layoffs will be needed. That was my point.

I am not talking about this one, I was talking about the one that already fined and ZTE already paid in 2017.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/07/technology/zte-china-fine.html

They paid that in full, and allowed to continue to do business in US, but there are also a condition that they have to reshuffle the directors and punish those who break the law. But ZTE didn't do it, leads to the ban. The ban was a ban and originally did not involved a fine. Trump purposed to issue ZTE a second fine instead, so if this is not going through the US government did not lose anything from their original actions.

And Unless Qualcomm can see into the future, the NXT deal is totally exclusive off the ZTE saga, they wanted to buy NXT for a long time, in years perhaps, it have nothing to do with the ZTE scandal. And I don't think further lay off will happen if they cannot acquire NXT, they lay off people to make it financially healthy, so they can raise the capital they need for the acquisition. They are ALREADY financially healthy, with or without the acquisition will not impact this fact, hence no further lay off is needed even if the deal did not go thru.

Check the court order for ZTE infraction and read it. ZTE so far has only paid $361 million...ZTE "has" agreed to increase fines to US government to $1 billion from original $892 billion. I don't know where you get $1.6 billion from. Either way US government losses a billion, ZTE lost $20 billion in market cap, potential layoffs in China 70000, Qualcomm at least 1500. US government wreaking people's lives...sadistic. ZTE management filled with PLA ducklings are idiotic crooks. If you invest in Qualcomm, PLA ducklings will be gunning for them.

You seem to only read headlines. So here's the 2017 settlement from the court order and the actual fine schedule. So yes, ZTE only paid $361 million from the original fine. The remaining amount "has" increased to $1 billion from the original 2017 "has agreed to pay $892 Billion" fines. If you still don't believe, then check ZTE annual report.

I am not sure what's your point regarding NXT, and Qualcomm. ZTE settlement is basically extortion much like Iran Sanctions. That's my point. As for Qualcomm the stock, funds has been dumping the stock all year and hedgies basically shorted to death. Everyone knew what was coming, obviously you didn't.

Dude, the court order said they pay in instalment, that does not mean the remaining balance is not being paid. No company in this world would have 1.2 billions stashed in liquid asset to pay for such a fine in one go, that probably is all their operational asset to pay for the initial amount, that does not mean they didn't pay the rest of the fund.

Sounded like you never owe US government money, if ZTE still owe them money, would you think they can operate until they were banned in May 2018?

How is the fine extortion by the way? ZTE broke US law, they want to operate in US, they need to obey US law, which is forbidding anyone operating in the US from dealing with Iran and NK. So if you speed in a highway and you get caught, are you going to say your speeding fine is an extortion? LOL, you are funny.

About NXT, you said Qualcomm sack 1500 employee, and I am telling you it have nothing to do with ZTE.

What do you think why it is taking so much time to impose any sanctions on China whereas in case of Russia it is always so easy ?
US need to calculate carefully which damage she may get from sanction on CN and its take few years tocalculate, thats all.

Its just like why US was taking so much time to impose sanctions on JP in WW2 . nothing special.

Btw: it's better to lets Cnese tell abt what happening to their country. U dont live and born there, so u simply dont know much abt CN .

If you have any contrary evidence then kindly share otherwise it is clear that your knowledge of international financial matters is not more than a school kid ...

You are comparing today's world with 1940s ... Man today one bad decision on housing loans in US put all world financial be entities trumbled ...

Well to start off with americans are not that stupid to let some one ruin their long well oiled financial system. Its not just America alone its the entire western world which is involved.

Now however smart china may be it will still be alone in this financial war. Second remember the rule if you owe the bank $2 trillion dollars its not your problem. Its banks problem.

China can go ahead and dump the dollar but they are not doing it why? Isn't true that china wants to overtake US or become sole superpower just like US is? Then why is it not taking any action when it has the advantage.

As for china encashing US currency yeah let them do it , but it will only be china & motley crew not the entire world. US dollar will be volatile for a year or 2 then it will be back in business. Mean while what will china do, where will its exports go?

Hey its not so simple. Remember irrespective of however things are bad US has some how floated, how about recent housing crisis where they screwed up royally? It will just another crisis and another day. One big advantage of imposing your financial system on the world is that you can do what ever you want without sweating much.
