Segregation of Hindus and Muslims in India very strong, says scholar

The area where I live Park Circus in Kolkata is a Muslim dominated neighbourhood and has people on all ranges of the spectrum. The western portion which is towards Park Street is an affluent neighbourhood with traders, merchants, office goers. Its inhabitants are mainly Muslims from UP who came here during the British period. The eastern wing though is filled with slums and houses Urdu speaking Muslims whose forefathers had come to work as labourers for the British railways. They still live in decrepit conditions and have stuck to their occupation as labourers. Topsia towards EM Bypass Road is almost a ghetto. Fortunately nowadays the children there are being educated in Central Calcutta schools and is subsidised by the school authorities and local charities. Saifee Hall where I studied is providing free education to them upto class 3 after which they can avail scholarships. They are getting educated now so hopefully their financial and social status will improve and will see them working more profitable jobs in the near future.

Yes, I wish for it.

This is what happens when your wish comes true,

This man leaves for the US, (his father was a Maharashtra MLA)

Kerala is one of a rarity where Muslims have given importance to education and makes sure to be equal to the other communities in education. And in economic prosperity they're far better than Hindus. In North India, a Muslim is a Pakistani who lives in India. Urdu speaking, Pan chewing, Rickshaw pullers should live like that for ever - This is what Hindu rightwing wants.

why does parkstreet still have hand drawn rickshaws.. its so weird.
Are you from Kolkata bro :) Park street doesn't have handpulled rickshaws actually, not that I have seen though. Handpulled rickshaws are found around the lanes of Mullickbazaar, some around Elliot road, Royd Street. Many are found in Rajabazar in the north too. Its a remnant of our old colonial heritage. Like trams. Its a gradually dying profession though.

Yes Arsalan at the seven point crossing. Park Circus in general is known for having the best restaurants in town offering Mughal cuisine. Apart from Arsalan, there are Zeeshan, Shiraz, Aminia which are also very famous among city folks. The street stalls around Mullickbazar, Beckbagaan are known for their bihari kebabs and you know ;)

If you want to taste real good Bengali cuisine, make sure to visit " 6 Ballygunge Place" restaurant. Their dishes are awesome

Most welcome :)
With demand comes certain responsibilities as well . . . so be ready with that also
You lot seem to be overtly obsessed with us- what our women wear, how we marry, what culture we follow. Listen we aren't third generation Tunisians in France, we have been living in this land for centuries. I didn't know we were supposed to have "added responsibilities" before you enlightened me today. We have already made lot of compromises, won't make any more.

There are genuine reasons for our support to Pakistan. Though I admit all muslims do not support Pakistans what will the most oppressed segment of the muslim population do when they see these injustices. The law for a Hindu is far different for a Hindu and a Muslim. A muslim is hanged on suspicion of terrorism like Afzal Guru and Modi is made PM.

Just look at the support for Modi despite this. I know people amongst my own relatives killed by these hindutvas. Muslims are born to be with Pakistan and the partition is incomplete. We suffered severely for staying in our own land, Lucknow. I am not surprised by the hindutva members here blaming the muslims. We are a scapegoat that will always be the target when something bad happens.
